Hi All.

Apprechiate some advice as I'm new to Mercs. (Mostly been VAG for a while)

Need a cheapish family estate, and got a (refundable) holding deposit on this C220 cdi to view tommorow: https://www.v12sportsandclassics.co.uk/used-cars/9...

Just pre facelift as far as i can tell?

Any advice on what to look out for? Common problems, service items that should have been done, etc etc.

Price seemed ok to me looking at others about but thoughts welcome?

Advice much apprechiated.

Cheers

They go quite well but are shockingly unrefined. I'd try find a petrol car. Parts cost a bomb

They're pretty reliable for what they are, seem to cope with big mileage. Some early cars had injector troubles but I think by the facelift that was sorted.

As always the servicing and maintenance is key with these to ensure longevity

The 4 cyl engine is a bit van-ish around town but there is reasonable shove. The halogen headlights suck, I’ve just put the Phillips LED’s in mine and they’re much better. Mine’s had the suspension refreshed over the last 12 months at 150k. I’ve had it 4.5 years now and am planning to keep it another 2.

Things that have broken so far - the electronic steering lock, the water pump, the alternator pulley (it has a clutch in it)
