Yes, I'm a recent convert to (genuine) gummi pflege.
I'll look into this more thanks.
Also worth checking the drain holes on the scuttle...I'll look into this more thanks.

Under the battery, as mentioned there is a drain, it is like a rubber "udder" that goes into the void between frame and wing. If this blocks your battery box fills up and the water then floods into your blower motor then into your footwell.
The real problem is that this will wreck your blower motor - on a LHD R171 they cost about 80 quid for a pattern spare, You can't get a pattern blower in the UK (they're a mirror image) and they're hundreds.
You'll also end up ruining the resistor pack which is part of the same assembly - they're cheap as chips though.
So best check your blower motor isn't full or water/rust/crap.

Thanks for blower motor info - both cars were/are bone dry, I did look into this.
The problem I have isn't a '55 issue, it is a 171 leak.
The water appears to drip down the windscreen pillar, then gravity takes over.
Odd it is exactly the same on both cars I've owned.
I'll report back, as made some adjustments yesterday.

Have a look here, seems that the A Pillar seal can get 'squashed'..The problem I have isn't a '55 issue, it is a 171 leak.

Thanks, the PDF that is attached seems to be a good starting point. I have worked the 'A' pillar rubber seal slightly loose so there is more play in it when window closed, which helped with previous car.https://www.slkworld.com/threads/slk55-leak-near-d...
I think I've found the cause of the leak...
It is where the horizontal rubber that the roof sits on attaches to the metal above the windscreen above the 'A' pillar.
There is a small gap that I've spotted today and that would allow water to run behind seal and then ultimately find it's way down inside door and then onto carpet. I might put a bit of sealant in there, and found someone had the same problem via Google - it is a part that does not move so can seal it up.
Also spotted a slight gap where window butts-up to what would be 'B' pillar.
None of this is specific to 55' owners though, as SLK350 before that was exactly the same.
One thing I prefer is that I run gearbox in 'C' when car is cold and prevents clunky downshifts that I've found I get when in 'S' when car is stone cold. I prefer the AMG seats to SLK350 ones as well.
Brilliant car I must say.

Found a couple of engines that are bigger than the M113 today...
would be nice if those AMG seats (sport? performance? model) would fit in the R171 SLK
seats from say AMG GT and S or GTR and or edition 1 models from C63s etc, those seats are perfect for me, also the AMG GT(S or R) steering wheel feels so good, but would those fit?
I means those kind
and this sort steering wheel

So...
Finally in a position to seriously start looking and had been watching a lovely Red car at snippersgate.
Watched it for months through lockdown and went to give them a call today - it sold earlier this week.
Now all that’s for sale are either black or silver with the exception of a brown Spanish car.
I wanted a more exciting colour than black or silver. I guess the waiting begins.

Have you got a link to it that still works? I’d just like to look. Finally in a position to seriously start looking and had been watching a lovely Red car at snippersgate.

What about a blue one? It feels less and less likely that a big Euro trip will happen this year for me...
Not thinking about selling 595? I’d take blue.
There are also other itches to scratch... I've never had a 3-cylinder turbo four-wheel drive Jap hatch for starters!

I really want to do a trip in it, which is why I bought it, but for obvious reasons couldn't last year and this year looks unlikely. Not sure whether to stick or twist. It's a briliant car, but I've got nowhere to go in it.

Morning. An SLK55's been on my wish list for years. Would love details too, if you're thinking of moving it on.There are also other itches to scratch... I've never had a 3-cylinder turbo four-wheel drive Jap hatch for starters!

Was with Snippersgate for months and months. It might be under “sold” on their website I guess.
