I like this, seen it in the flesh, but, the dealer has had it for a few months, and raised the price twice?

So, what exactly is the Edition 1? It looks to just be the cross-stitched seat?
The edition 1 is the highest spec model, comes with cross stitched interior, full alcantara steering wheel, exterior decals and black rims although I believe you can spec them on the C63 (s).The S also has red calipers as does the edition 1.
I had an M4 before and whilst it was on Pirellis, it scared me a few times, didn't sound as good and the first gear was crap, i've heard this was fixed in the comp model though.
The M4 is more comfortable but nothing makes up for a V8 and the electronic diff in the 63s, it's also the fastest in it's class although it is the most powerful too.
I swapped my 2016 Mustang GT for a 2018 C63 estate (non-'S').
They're very different cars. The Mustang was a lot more basic on pretty much every level, and not as quick as the C63. However, it generated a level of interest from petrolheads pretty much everywhere and you could be assured of getting involved in a chat with a random stranger every time you stop for fuel/ go to the shops.
The C63 is quicker, has more space (as I have the estate) and technologically it's much more modern than the Mustang. I love the sound it makes and the performance. But otherwise it's pretty discrete so hardly anyone notices what it is. Mine has however spent 3 months off the road during my ownership with electrical issues which Merc couldn't diagnose, and ultimately resulting in basically the whole electronics system being replaced under warranty.
On running costs, the Mustang was much cheaper to service, but it's fuel consumption was worse than the C63 - I averaged about 18mpg in the Mustang compared to around 27 in the C63. Servicing on the C63 is not too bad, particularly if you take out a service plan. But things like brake pads are quite expensive if you get them from the Mercedes dealer.
So in summary, they're very different cars. I still miss the 'Stang but at least I can fit the family in the C63 without the Mrs complaining about the lack of space.
The latest version of the Mustang is faster and louder than the one I had, so it's probably more similar to the C63.
Personally I'd try both and see which one you enjoy most, and which one works best for your lifestyle. If you have kids, the Mustang will probably only work when they're small.

Just to give some of my feedback on the Mustang alternative - had a few rentals over the years from the V6 to the Ecoboost and the V8 too.
Here in the US, they are a cracking bargain (and so is the Camaro). They are built to a price and work well at the USD level. Translating that to the GBP doesnt make sense to me. Big, shouty and actually not that bad to drive, but its not a GBP 46k car! I just spec'ed out UK and USA models and they came out to be the same approx price - GBP 47k and USD 46k (but the US model is higher spec, its all in the packages). But at the current conversion rates, thats a $60k price tag..... its not a $60k driving experience!
But, it is unusual enough, different from anything else and maybe thats worth the price. I still think that at $46k USD and before discounts and fantastic financing here in the US is a steal. And when you get to the second hand market, you can see why this style of car is so successful.

The only thing I’d say is that, in the US these are common, but, in the UK, the Mustang is quite prestigious, kinda justifies the premium?
Absolutely, big loug and shouty.... why not? Just saying that there is a premium price to something that isnt a premium product. They are good cars, and actually way better than their reputation from previous generations. Just flagging that its price in the UK isnt quite justified, but if it fits what you want, why not? Its far from a bad car.Gassing Station | Mercedes | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
