I hadn’t realised people were doing deals at £100k!

I think even with the foibles I’d had with it I’d have pounced on it at that price.
The least I could get any of the ones I liked down to was £120k and they were not mega spec

I haven’t seen a single car I would want to be own at anywhere near £100k - nice dream but far from reality.
Mine was a smidge over £120k and think it would likely fetch closer to £130k now if advertised by Romans or similar. All in the spec, colour & desirability

Prices for the right Spec GT-R's are still strong and the right cars are selling easy enough. I was looking for a while and finally pulled the trigger on the one below from Grant Kirby:

https://www.gkirby.com/showroom/mercedes-amg-gt-r-...

I was lucky enough to be able to trade this in though and got a superb price for it, Grant sold it the same day.

The GT-R is an absolute animal when asked and I am now getting used to it and looking forward to when the weather warms the tarmac up so the Cup 2's can perform as they are designed to cool

wow, thats a great combo incl the bucket seats, almost a must specially in the hel-green GT-R

good buy and sell of your other car, also a lovely example 507 C63 also rare.

How do you compare those 2?
I also looked (online) at some 507 as great price and rare compared to almost same specked black series c63

the newer version of the c63 I find to big looking at least, my neighbors have 2 of those, not c63 but same model.
the amg gt-r is also not small but looks way better then such newer c63

the c63 507 also does not look as big as the newer c63 other lines do not look as fat ;-)

anyhow, how do those 2 compare, the nice rare 507 NA vs the 4.0 biturbo GT-R animal

Hello Rene,

The 507 was an amazing car and I thoroughly enjoyed owning it. The M156 engine is an absolute peach if you look after it and the power output and ability to get down the road is amazing when you think the engine has been around since 2008 and only a few internal bits are changed for the 507 spec, along with a bit of improved breathing. I had a Quaife LSD added and used Pilot Sport 4 S tyres and it handled very well into and out of corners and actually got the power down very well when asked. I'd have one every day over a Black Series as most owners try to keep Black Series mileage down to protect their value. My 507 had 23,000 miles on it when I bought it and 48,000 when I sold it 3 1/2 years later and that didn't harm the value one bit.

The GT-R is a completely different animal altogether. The power is rather alarming still (I've only had it 4 weeks) and I've not tried Sport+ or Individual modes yet eek The handing is on another level to anything I have had before and the 4 wheel steering really helps at low speeds when maneuvering and higher speeds when I can feel the back settling into a smooth fast curve very nicely. Overall it is s true super car and I can't wait for the warmer weather and higher road surface temperatures to experience the true grip and performance of the car on Michelin Cup 2's cool

Hi Yex,

Sounds like also a good car such C63 507 and indeed I remembering something like they used some parts for the engine from the black series version.
Ah the Quaife LSD, it seems that a Wavetrac would be even better in some situations, it also can send some power to the other wheel even when 1 wheel is lifted and more, at least I was reading more from that in some SLK 55 AMG threads.

Good to read that the AMG GT-R is and feels that good already, funny to read you did not tested the sport+ or individual modes yet, although I would not be so fast eighter with such, since I drive so little the last years, maybe a 1.000km a year.
But when in the car, I love it (not a Merc yet)

I was in the beginning (end 2019-begin 2020) looking for a AMG GT-S edition 1 version (only 375 made so it seems) the real ones, so with edition 1 also written in the steering wheel, not all those fake edition 1 cars.
But then covplandemic came in and traveling to say Germany would be impossible for someone like me :-) and AMG GT cars went up 15-20% in price... instead of going down... aaah.

But then i also saw a lot of video's with testers in the AMG GT-R saying, the GT-R is totally different from the GT cars, very different in feeling and so on...hm, so I would like one of those but also those went up that 15-20% and they were of course already more expensive... so I thought I wait another year... but prices still the same if you can find one with the bucketseats at a 'fair' price, it seems that they are highly rated.

I'm also looking at other cars, but a AMG GT-R is still on top of my list, love those.

I've been watching the market for a GTR for a few months now, the lower spec cars are selling close for £100k, but anything with decent options is 20k more.

I juts test drove on for the first time, the performance was staggering. The acceleration from 40-100 is unreal. Made the GT3 RS feel slow.

Pretty certain it's the car for me now.

Does anyone know this car?
It looks great and has a good spec, only issue I can see is that its already have 5 owners.

Im just not sure if this is something I should be concerned about or not.

Quite common for cars like this to have lots of owners. People don’t buy them to have for 2-5 years like a normal car, they have them for a Summer or an experience then shift them on for the next cool thing

Looks a similar spec to my one and at same price point, but will come with 2 year AMG used warranty so good buy by the look of it.

It's still not sold, in fact nothing GT-R wise is selling.
Feels like they need to fall, so am going to hold on.

I brought a green one a few weeks ago.

Great piece of kit. And an amazing positive response from the public too.

Mine has 24,000km's (Australian) so been well used but feels as tight as a drum, as they say.

Can't really floor it on public roads without the back stepping out so waiting for the first trackday to spring up.

Off for a service in two weeks so fingers crossed all is well.

I'm thinking of getting a GTC as well but summer is over for the moment so no need.

PS... I prefer the analogue dials to the digital dash, not sure why...

How are prices doing?
Some GT-Rs seem to be sitting at 80k.
Sooo much car, why don't they sell?!
GT3s have dropped but are they worth £50k more? I don't think ao

Depends what value you place on specialness or the experience. These are very good cars technically and they look great but imo they don’t give you that special feeling which is why I didn’t buy one after a good drive.
Eg with the GT3 / RS you get that screaming engine that I think only otherwise comes in the 4 RS? Bit less sound deadening etc clonky chuntering drivetrain, it all just feels a bit more racecar and a special experience.

With the GTR if you were blindfolded and taken for a drive you could guess at being in any one of about 15 Mercs from the last 12 years or so. Until I got the GTR up and flying it was just like bowling around in a more awkward to drive version of my Dads E63.

I’m not saying they are bad cars by any stretch but when you put them up against other things they can compete with like GT3 / 4, Lambos etc or at the other end of the price bracket say an Exige I think I’d only pick the GTR if I had to commute in it too.

Its a good point, if you’re after a more race car like feel then the gt3 has it licked.

but as far as the car feeling like an occasion? AMG GT all day long, even more so the R&C as they have so much more width & road presence than a GT3, you have to be someone who likes a long bonet and sit over the rear wheels, its a less confidence inspiring drive but definitely feels like something special (i own some very special cars & i still rate the GTR/C)

its a much rarer sight on roads to and its not a just derivative of another model in the same way the 911 is, interior (if important to you) is far superior but i’ll concede on the noise, i just dont rate the 4.0tt noise and i have two of them, it does burble like a tvr for cruising though which no 911 does.

On track the gtr (or a stage 1 gtc) on same tyres is slightly quicker on some tracks, slightly slower on tighter tracks, stage 1 gtc is quicker on either but a bit of an unfair comparison, gt3rs is more a comparison for the latter.
