Daft question I know, but what fuel economy figures would I expect?

I get average of 14, and on a long motorway run between 70 and 100mph (in Germany ) 21.7mpg

Hope this helps,

Regards, Matt.

That's not too dissimilar to my SL55.

Not sure whether to take the plunge or not, and fuel consumption is not top of the priority list! But I've heard stories of "4 mpg"" etc etc and thought I ought to check. DB9 Volante is the main alternative at the moment.

Personally, if I had the choice again I would go for a DB9.

However, and a big however, I would only do this as i've already had the pleasure of a '65 AMG.
If you can get the '65 then I would say go for it. I also had a '55 Komp before, and there is a big difference between the cars, no only the engine, but transmission is quicker to react and holds gears longer, the steering wheel is much chunkier, the feedback is better than my old 55 and I dont really notice the extra weight.

Oh, and the POWER! It is much quicker than my old '55.

However now ive been there and done that, I would have a DB9 which is probably more 'useable' (in sporty sense) and you could wring its neck more often without hitting the limiter on each occasion!

If your after pure supercar speed with great GT crusing abilities and all the extras in the book then get the '65. If your after a car you can throw about (relatively to a 65) and take out for a sunday morning blast get the Aston.

Just IMO of course

I got 18.3 mpg out S65 over 1800 miles :P

Long trip will get near 22 mpg cruising 89

S55 got 19 odds and would started off 22-23 long trips but ended up 24-25 mpg

funnily enough cruisingly slowly doesn't give much better economy

A guy down the road has a vanquish and the s55 saw it off on the motorway, when the aston was running he had it 13 months and it was in the garage for over 6 months, he has a db9 which he got as part settlement on the vanquish and it too has broken down

I get almost identical MPG to my SL55 which is average 16.5. On a run you can see 22-23 and when really monstering on you dip below 10.

Maff, did I see you on top of the M4 at Jcn 8/9 last week? I was in the Red SL65 :-)

No, unfortunately not. Going to Bovingdon to watch the daft brummie Bennett compete in a moto enduro and laugh as he does a collar bone.

As regards the DB9 I over heard a conversation between the owner of romans (prestige car garage) and John terry (chelsea player) and they both did nothing but slag off the DB9 electrics.John terry told him that his roof got stuck half way down at the training ground. He apparenly sent it back to aston and told them he never wanted to see it again just somthing to bear in mind
