Hi Guys, first time I've posted on the merc forum, so all round

What? I'm not paying for them...

So I've gone and bought myself this;

Its a 1985 Mercedes 230CE, 151,000 miles.

A few things that are niggling me with it and would like to get sorted though. The Air operated central locking seems to work fine, then have a few minutes off It seems to work fine after the car has run, but not after it has been standing. Can the system lose pressure?

Where can I get door and window rubbers for it? the old ones are quite perished and as it lives outside, I'd quite like to know its watertight.

Where can I get the seats either retrimmed, replaced, or maybe new covers to fit over the frames?

Thats really all it needs!

Nice old barge, you'll get loads of advice over here : http://mbclub.co.uk/forums/

The only thing I can suggest regarding the vacuum is that it's just as likely the connectors are leaking at the pump end, otherwise the pumps had it (around £150) Even newer Mercs have pump problems, apart from the C Class Spots Coupe wich has electric locks that don't sound half as nice. If door locks can sound nice.

If you want used (and I think they do new, too) stuff, Mercman www.mercman.net is a great Mercedes breaker.

Had stuff from them, they're pretty honest and reliable, one of the guys who worked there was always offering information to us on the Mercedes 190 forum, they're certainly better than some of the rather dodgy breakers out there!!

No connection to them, would just recommend them that's all. They'd probably trade your wheels for original ones if you decided to do that too!

Alternatively, stuff from the dealer can be surprisingly cheap (but I am in the motor trade so don't pay a mark up....)

Thanks guys, I'll look into that after work today.

I don't think the locking is a pump problem, after all it does actually work... just loses pressure somewhere.

Where can I get a manual for one of these? Halfords were useless.

'A mercedes what?'

He couldn't get it into his head that its a 1985 model not the latest C class... :cough:
