Thanks for this.

When does the Mercedes model year start and what are the 2007 revisions?

Additionally, any truth that AMG buyers get a free driving day?

Thanks

MY 2007 cars were manufactured from early June onwards, which is the normal changeover.

Yes, you get a free day at MIRA where you get road tuition from an ex-police instructor, skidpan training and high speed runs, all in factory supplied AMG models (CLS, C, CLK and E on the day I was there). Also, you get a 190mph passenger ride in the SLR. It was a great day out.

Firstly, I think the AMG is a tupendous car. Haven't owned any of the others that you guys seem to have had experience with so limited comparison.

I would buy another.

However, has anyone had any problems with theirs ?

Mine has had a new air con fan that made a strange noise, the drivers seat backrest heater stopped working so was replaced, the offside door mirror indicater had condensatino so was replaced and the exhaust pipe chrome began to rust. All done on warrenty of course but I had to wait whilst they made a complete back box to resolve the rusty chrome -it not an off the shelf item !!. I'm intending to replace mine before theres any danger of the exhaust needing replacement as it would have cost £1000 if it hadn't been on warrenty.

Whilst I'm typing - anyone know anything about using a blue tooth phone with the onboard bluetooth in this car (I can pair my phone with it but it doesn't appear connected). I've posted this question in another thread so won't go into details.

Having said all that its still a superb car which is why I'm probably not completely brassed off with the faults.

AMG driving day fantastic (especially the SLR) wonder if they'll run it at their new showcase centre in the future though.

cheers

Is it possible to get the TV option with COMAND for the SLK 55? I have seen it mentioned for other AMG cars. However, it's not included within the pricing schedules for the SLK55

Just one problem at 3,500 miles where the airbags disabled themselves due to a wire having the wrong resistance. It was a known problem and was rectified straight away by the local dealer.

No, I don't think it's possible officially. However, maybe you could email these people and ask:

www.mbenznl.com/products/tvtuner.shtml

The rear window normally contains the aerial, and there isn't one available for the SLK with an aerial in it, so I don't know how you would get round that.

Mine is 11 months old now, done 7400miles.

had 2 new water pumps at 1400miles, 1 change of power steering solenoid at 2800miles and rocker cam cover oil leak at 6200miles which needed 2 attempts for useless rubbish dealer to fix. it was caused in the first place by incorrectly torqued cover nuts, and secondly, they used sealant and not gaskets in the factory.

I like it but i have fallen out with mercedes, so it will be going shortly and i shall see what takes my fancy later on.

Prior to my 997C2 I had a Boxster S that suffered a number of electrical problems including total loss of headlights at 2am in the morning!!! Needless to say I soon got shot of it at the supplying OPC after only six months of ownership and a full refund to boot. Whatever you choose I hope you enjoy it.
