Merc S class 2004 - weird electrical problem

My car (2004 S320) has developed a strange problem, If someone sits in the passenger seat and moves the seat position and especially the headrest sometime later (when no-one is in the seat) the headrest on the passenger seat starts moving up and down, unless and until I move the passenger seat to a certain position.
My dealer clearly thought I was mad, as of course when I took it in in stopped doing this.
Anyone any ideas ?

HA! Sod's Law! I've had a couple of phantom problems, which seem to disappear as soon as I even mention the word "mechanic" in the car's prescence!
As for potential problems....I'm not really up on W202 S-Classes, but I know they are filled to the brim with electrical wizardy!
It could be a crossed wire, malfinctioning motor???

I had a whole raft of problems with a 2002 S-Class and a 2003 E-Class with the electric seats. On both cars, the problems were intermittent and it drove the dealer nuts trying to fault find. In the end, he replaced the door control modules on both cars and the problems were resolved.
On the S-Class they diagnosed the fault by testing a door control module from an S55 AMG that they had in the workshop. When they replaced mine with a new door control module that they'd ordered for the S320 CDI it didn't fix the fault. They scratched their heads and replaced it with a brand new S55 door control module and the problem was resolved.

Good to hear that your problem was resolve... mine is still faulty, Same diagnoses with yours but even when my dealer already replaced my Mercedes parts such as the door control module... Still it doesn't fix the problem... Maybe there is a faulty wiring on in my electric seat...

As I said in my post, using the S320 Mercedes replacement parts my issue was not resolved. When the dealer finally ordered and replaced the door control modules with S55 door control modules, the problem was resolved. If I recall correctly, my E class was the same i.e. E55 door control module resolved the issue. Might be worth asking your dealer to try one from a "donor" car if they have one in at some point.
