Is there anyone out there that no's much about the slk32 amg or anyone who has one?Ive been mulling over buying a tvr over the last few months and have came close a couple of times, however its quite easy to be put off by all the engine rebuilds you hear of.Its never really crossed my mind to go for a merc but one has came up at a reputable local dealer and its got me thinking! How reliable are these cars and what would be a good price to pay for a 2002 model with around 30k on it,assuming its in A1 condition?Im aware it hasnt got the same power as the tvr but if its a reliable engine it might be the next best thing.Having owned a vx220 it has crossed my mind to buy the turbo version but that hasnt got the creature comforts the merc has.Is 30K miles high for an amg or are they good for high miles in general? And finally would they hold their value pretty well?Any help in his matter would be apreciated.

If its the one I think your thinking about then a deposit has been taken on it .... very rapid car.... I thought it seemed rapid then found out why! SLK with 350bhp seems very wrong, but good!

I've had my SLK32 AMG for nearly 18 months now and the only thing which has gone wrong was a rear threequarterlight window mechanism. Touch wood, the engine, supercharger and transmission have all been 100% reliable.

And after 18 months does it still put a smile on your face?

Do bears defecate rurally? Is the Pope a Catholic?

Sure it does - the excess of power is quite mindblowing. But it's sooo easy to drive quietly as well.

SLK32 or plastic kit-car? That's a no-brainer!

I'll second Nick's comments - I've had my 32 since January and I can honestly say it's one of the best cars I've owned (including my Boxster S). I took the precaution of getting a Merc used car check done so that I could get the used car warranty on it which has proved to be a good thing as the intercooler pump gave up the ghost a couple of weeks ago, as did the heated seat - both of which are being done under the warranty. I think this could be due to the fact that mine is very low mileage and so hadn't had a lot of use recently; I certainly don't think you can call 30k on an 02 'high mileage'!

I'd definitely say go for it - 354bhp in something the size of the SLK is great fun!

Hi.
I will 'third' Nicks comments. Had mine for nearly a year and it still makes me grin like a loony when it I really need to give it some!!
Don't be put off by the 'auto' box. It is a semi auto, but a special one that has been reprogrammed by AMG and it is a corker. Very fast gear changes and it will even change down for you at the right point!!
I have only had a xenon bulb fail on me so far and the rest has been mega reliable. Very strong engine.
I am *so* lovin' it!!!
