I've just ordered my wife a CLS 320, should be with us (her) in 8 weeks, so I'm very pleased to hear all the positive comments.

Our solution to the seating issue is to keep her Volvo XC90 as the family bus, all bases covered!

It's a fair point, the CLS is a luxury wafter, it's not sporty in the slightest.

Just the way the wife likes it!

By the way, did you mention "mummy shopping trolley" and "sports car" in the same line once? biggrin

No tracker needed on my CLS55 - must be by area ? I was a but miffed to be paying £700 insurance after my Lexus at £400 but hey ho - goes like stink and the engine is the occasion far more than the car is (does that make sense)

what would make the best buy, a 2004 maserati quattroporte with 17,000 miles, OR Merc CLS500 2006 model with 388bhp with 15,000 miles?

what would you choose?

Two very different cars obviously, although I am a big fan of both though. The Maseratis have been known to throw up some big maintainance bills whereas you have warranty left on the CLS, but I guess it depends what is important to you.

It's a tricky one, but some of the early QPs I've been in the trim was a bit flaky, much better now.

I would also have thought the Maserati was a load more money too?

Drive them, they are so different it hard to say.

The Maserati is a fantastic thing and much more exclusive, but older and potentialy a money pit.

The CLS is big, but the QP is even bigger.

You pays your money, personaly I've gone for a CLS but if I'd have known of Maseratis at that price it would have made me think.

not too keen on that maple thing, will test drive Q on monday, is the MB warranty good or is there lots of small print ?
does the CLS ride well on 20 inch wheels?

when did the cls500 with 388bhp come out as opposed to 306 bhp i think?

Wacky, my wifes car, which they've told me today is being built October 16th, is cashmere with black birds eye.

I think it looks great.

I'm looking forward to it.

Can't get timber steering wheels myself, unless they're on a 1930's Bentley which the CLS certianly isn't but it's a very personal thing.

There's plenty of faux wood in a Maserati QP too!!

The headlight switch is ridiculous on these - you cant see if they are on / off or whatever - crap design that has suprised me.

On my GS430 I had the woody / leathery wheel not nice - my CLS has a leather wheel that seems bog standard which is surprising in an AMG

Cars good though - happy with it, not as rattly as the Lexus but the paint is much poorer (met black) and needs a monthly wax or it seems to deteriorate before my eyes

I don't get timber steering wheels at all hurl

Shiny, scratchy, cold slippery bits that look too pipe and slippers to me.

But each to their own, my dad loves them!

Same on all Mercs since at least the 1970's so I would argue a design classic.

Hasn't the CLS got auto lights so you never need to look at them anyway
