I need to get my mits on an oil burner - merc to be precise to go with (or maybe chop in) the old faithfull 190. Not bothered if W124 or another 190. Mega miles are going to be covered in the near future so it'll need to be mechanically ok. Not too bothered about how it looks.

Oh, and as cheap as possible as well (don't want much do I nuts)

Thanks Chaps.

wifeys C220 CDI manages 550 miles per tank of £50 ish. My 190e 1.8 petrol manages 350.
I'm guessing an older E300 derv could do about 450-500 ish??

i have a w210 e300d returns about 400 miles on £50 its the non turbo they only produced them for 12 months before putting a turbo on. you can easily see why too, you can't go anywhere in a hurry, but straight 6 smooth and will do over a ton (where permitted of course ) in near silence... and they cost buttons now 1996 is the year you want. value, seen plenty for 2.5-4k would sell mine for 3K but i'm not quite done with it.

My E300TD does about 500 miles on £62 of fuel at 70ish on the motorway.

Not bad for a 3 litre engine with nearly 200k on the clock. Quiet too, and bombproof.

Thanks Satsuma, but after something a bit leggier and cheaper, probably the way to go, something like yours in the long term though. smile

Hi Mike

Any good ?

Its probably full of lucky heather and old dried tarmac but might be ok with a clean up !

Will run on veggie oil as well !

Regards

Nigel

hehe

Can you believe it, left the thing in town overnight, this morning, I notice an arse indentation in the bonnet with two stilletto heel marks at the leading edge of the bonnet.

At least someone had a good time on it. biggrin
