Try to find a Merc dealer who has put one on as a demo. Let the first short term owner take the hit!cool

The C63 is a very different car to anything that AMG have bought into the UK before. It will be much more an M3 competitior than before and should not be far off price wise either. I think getting hold of one will be your biggest problem TBH...

Indeed. Being hyped as the greatest AMG ever, this car is a scalpel compared to the softly-softly likes of the CLK63 et al.
Demand is to be sky-high.

Nice choice, all the initial reports look to be favourable.

How do you mean by softly-softly?

I drove the CLK63 a good while ago - I thought it was a rather 'numb' car to drive, and felt pretty disconnected from the road.
Crushingly powerful, yes.
Accurate and tactile, no.
These 'issues' have apparently been addressed for the C63 and critics are saying it's much more direct and engaging, with good
feedback from the steering and suspension. Mercedes widened the front track for the C63, to improve turn-in - I don't think they've ever done that before.

Ahhh, ok. How does it compare to the W208 CLK 55 AMG, then?

If anyone is thinking of ordering and has any questions I would be more than happy to help wink

I think it is set to be an stunning car, AMG have had a lot to do with the development of the car from the ground up, rather than being given a car that has already been built/designed like all of the other AMG models.

I think Merc have finally realised that the M3/RS4 market is very big and has helped raise the profile of the the rest of the subsequent ranges and they hope to do the same with the C63.

I wonder if they'll be bringing out a new CLK in the next couple of years.

I've never driven that car, but the '55' AMGs are said to more brutal and direct in their power delivery, with the
newer '63' units being barely up on power but smoother and better behaved.
The 55s sound like more fun!
The W208 didn't set the mid-sized coupe world alight with its handling and response, and I can imagine the W209 being
improved in these departments but tbh they're both still luxury cars first, and sports cars second.

The 55 engines produce 370bhp, while the 63 engines produce 481bhp (IIRC)... that's quite a bit more power.

Why do you say the 55 is more fun than the 63? I was under the impressive that the 63 models would be more extreme (not driven them, though, just like the idea of a 6.3 litre V8 engine biggrin ).

Sorry, I was referring to the differences in output on AMGs such as the E-Class, CLS-Class and S-Class.
These cars used Supercharged 55s before switching to the NA 63s.
The supercharged versions of the '55' deliver between 469 and 509bhp.
The NA '63's push out between 474 and 518bhp...

As I said, the supercharged 55s are revered as more gutsy and direct than the smooth 63s that followed...

On the CLK55 mentioned above: I have a W208 CLK55. It's quite fast, but the newer ones have a significant jump on BHP alone.

I have read that the 63 engine (AMG are going away from supercharging again and back to NA) has a less smooth power band compared to there M113 ('55) engine.

If you are considering a C63 and can afford it then do it. If I could have any car now it would be that, it's set to be a stormer and probably the best they've ever done - when you get the artifically set limitations taken off. The engine is as capable of being tuned to higher BHP output as it also sits in the E63 and so on.

At my end of the price range, the CLK55 does just fine, and it sort of rides on a sea of torque from low revs which is very obviously missing from any other car I've driven, the response range is really wide. It's quite a characteristic of the car and very different to M3s or high revving engines.

Go for a C63! And give me a pax spin in it!

What;s the damage in the UK? Here they will be around €100k, same as the E92 M3. So around UK£50-60k?
