Hi
I'm completely new (!) to the Mercedes world having been a dyed-in-the-wool BMW type for over 25 years boxedin

www.bmwclassics.co.uk

As my first foray into MB I have a 1969 280 SL to "get to grips" with and was wondering if there are any groups/forums that members here would suggest that I sign up to to start with to get to know and learn about the marque and these cars specifically.

At the moment I feel like I'm standing at the foot of a very high mountain!

Many thanks in advance.

Hi

I have looked (and salivated!) over your website many times! I cannot believe you have the time as a doctor!

try

www.sl113.org

I am in the market for a 113 (has to be LHD as I am moving to the gulf).

I also share your passion for BMWs. I own an orignial condition 1991 325i SE Auto (totally unmolested).

The one that got away was last year at Knebworth. It was a 1991 mint e30 m3 - red, black leather, AC and std 16" wheels, no speakers, no rust 120k kms - £8995..I umm'd and ah'd and by the time I went back, the owner had gone. I tried tracking the car down (via this website and others)..but never did find it frown

Many thanks for your quick response and kind words regarding my cars!

My ex-E30 M3 is now in Italy! the chap who bought it from me decided it was too 'good' for his purposes and sold it (at significant profit) 6 months later.

The Diamond Black E28 on my website went back to its owner just yesterday...he's delighted! He's personally owned the car for close to 20 years.

I now wish to sell my Polaris Silver E28 which (hopefully) should be fully complete this week!

Then it's head-on into the 'Pagoda'!

Many thanks indeed for the directions to that website!

You could join the Mercedes Benz Owners Club (www.mercedes-benz-club.co.uk)

Established in 1952 and factory recognised.

Lots of technical expertise within, and very helpful people.(Many Pagoda owners belong)

Also benefit from parts discounts, monthly mag and good website/forum.

As an aside, you can still get many parts (not all) for these Pagoda's from Mercedes.

One of the most knowledgeable sources is Jacksons of Poole (now Mercedes Benz Poole). They are a classic parts specialist (ask for Mervyn Wright).

Good luck with the Pagoda, I have always enjoyed reading/seeing your BMW projects and admired your persistance. The few detailed articles I have read about Pagoda rebuilds have certainly required that in spades!
