As mentioned by me in another thread I've just got a 2000 SL500. It's got COMAND and it has a phone cradle under the centre console - looks like it for a Nokia. Does anyone have any idea which one - it'd be handy to get one off Fleabay or somewhere, stick a Pay as You Go SIM card in it and then just have my normal mobile forwarded on to it.

Alternatively is there some form of Bluetooth capability that can be retrofitted in place of the cradle?

Edit: Actually I ought to do a bit of Googling before asking stuff like this! This company do a Bluetooth 'dongle' that looks like it does what I want

However it's 215 quid frown and I've spent all my cash on a car!

Hi Robert - I've also just bought an SL and been wondering about this, I also have the pre-wiring and cradle to fit a Nokia.

Also did some googling, and found different types of things to connect, although none of them cheaper than this unfortunately!

What I'm wondering if others can advise, is this bit of kit the best solution, or is there any reason to go for the other ViseeO type of solution, and if so, which of the two different types would I need? As mentioned, my cradle is specifically for the Nokia.

£300 - http://www.comandonline.co.uk/product.php?producti...

£220 - http://www.comandonline.co.uk/product.php?producti...

I'm guessing I may need the £300 one? frown

Ok, answering my own question now - a useful explanatory link from that website:

I'm assuming you know the answer then ...

.... if it is Nokia then it is probably a 6310 (or similar). My CL55 has the same setup and I just got a 6310 from eBay and leave it in the car. My car has the D2B installation and I suspect your has too.

When in the car, I turn off my main phone, which then diverts to the one in the car. If that is off, it diverts to my main voicemail.

That little BT 6310 emulator looks neat but a bit on the pricey side!

Problem solved! I just ordered an MBU1000 from Medea Direct with next day delivery. ComandOnline lost my business as they only seem to work by email - I don't like that.

As you say - very pricey (299 quid, though I'll be getting the VAT back) but very trick, it would appear. And iPhone compatible, which is nice cool

OK - update.

My MBU1000 arrived today and it's very neat looking and does the business as promised (after a bit of arseing around - the dip switch configuration was not what it said in the manual).

It doesn't offer any of the SMS functionality (no problem for me) but otherwise works great (I use a Nokia 5310, and am waiting for a contract change to go to O2 for a 3G iPhone - the unit will handle this too) using the comand numeric keypad, downloads phone book and works with linguatronic.

Rather pricey at 299 but what else can you do?

There's a good thread about them on mbworld forums - I'll post a link when I'm not drunk.
