Viano - 2.2d or 3.0d auto
Discussion
Hi
I am reading up on the Viano in auto/diesel guise. Of the x2 diesel engines, in the ambient models, the 2.2 would seem the obvious choice for lower running costs, however thanks to it's 2.1 tonne mass I can only assume the 2.2 would be running around 70% effort to the 3.0's 50% ish making the 3.0 the better of the x2?
Average mpg in the 3.0 and 2.2 is 30.7 and 32.8 respectively. Which, over 12000 miles, equates to an addition cost of £141.65 / year [£11.80 a month] to run the 3.0 over the 2.2, a negligible amount for over 33% more power, and arguably a much smoother & more refined engine. Insurance seems to be similar as is road tax. The servicing is variable and 'up to' 18k miles or 2 years.
So the only thing I don't know is the cost of each service between the models.
Despite that, is it a no brainer, or have I missed something?
Thanks in advance.

My brother in law bought a 3.0 van last year, and also bought a service agreement for £450 which takes care of servicing for 5 years or 100k miles iirc.
First service became due at 22k miles. Probably just oil.
His best fuel consumption figure recorded on the computer is 37mpg very recently.
No probs with the van at all and he is very pleased that he decided on the 3.0 as opposed to the smaller engined model.
