A quick question

When lifting off at a slow speed, there is a slight clunk coming from the transmission (automatic)

Is this normal? it doesn't sound like a harsh sound, more of a gear engaging/disengaging (which I hope it is!)

Is it coming from the differential?

It could be whats sometimes called "gear train shunt" this normally happens when an accumulation of rubber joints and bushes get old, cracked or worn out. This will have a profound effect on the movement of the transmission during changing of gears, during acceleration or coming off the fast pedal too quick.
