Had a chance this weekend to get a close look at the new GLK, which will be available in the US from January.

Prices start at $32k for the front wheel drive and $35k for the four wheel drive version.

On the whole it looks like a very nice car, both inside and out. It certainly has a strong similarity externally to its big brother, the GL!

That is one "pig ugly" car imho! Looks like it should have some cheap Japanese badge on it!

I wouldn't necessarily have it in white, but I did rather like it! Maybe it looks better in the flesh!

Certainly better that the X3 though, and the mass of Eastern soft-roaders .... smile

Doesn't 'do' anything for me - maybe you are right about colour and a darker one might be better... but maybe not!

Externally it looks like a redesign of a Mitsubishi Pinin to me, which isn't a good thing IMO.

Can't believe it's not out yet - seems to have been around for ever.

MB orginally said it definitely would not be done in RHD, but there are rumours they're working on it (although sounds like the solution might a bit of a bodge).

Not out until January! Blimey! Photos, write ups and the odd road test has been circulating for ages!
I also saw one on the road, whilest on a trip to Germany in July - but that was driving down Mercedes Strasse!

By the opinions I've read, the looks very much make it a marmite car. I have to say I like it! Quite why they even offer FWD, I don't know. They should just have a decent permanent 4WD system, IMO.

Thanks for the photos steve_amv8 thumbup

I'm with you on the FWD option! What is the point!

If it does get to the UK then I wouldn't be surprised if they only offered 4WD .... particularly considering the difference in the GL range for the US and UK markets! smile

It's a US thing, I presume for cost reasons. Hire a Jeep Grand Cherokee in Florida and, even though it has a 4x4 badge on the back, it's actually only 2WD.

I quite like it and i'm sure it will look better in the flesh. I would definitely have one over an X3 thats for sure.
