A friend of mine has a previous generation SL500 which his father left him. The battery has died due to lack of use but he is unable to locate the battery. Only had a couple of minutes to look at it but assumed it would be in the boot, wasn't able to locate it though so checked the rear deck but couldn't find anything either.
Could anybody shine some light on it please?

Is it not under the bonnet next to the o/s/f wing on the R129

If it's the old R107, you have to rip the boot to bits, and take out the interior trim in the o/s/r wing to get at it.

If it's the old R107, you have to rip the boot to bits, and take out the interior trim in the o/s/r wing to get at it.
If its the R129, it is located on the right hand side of the boot, behind a removable trim panel.

At least, thats where mine is!
