It really is a very tidy looking motor. I bet the glass roof is great! How heavy is the pan roof by the way?

The pano roof is flipping heavy. Even for two people its quite tricky to handle, because its buly and awkward as well. Definitley worth it though smile Its lovely and airy inside with it on, perfect for a long journey!

Lovely picture. The Lakes can be absolutley stunning at this time of year, especially in a motor with the top down.

It was a great weekend, with the perfect compromise: Panroamic hardtop for the drive there and back (most relaxing long journey I've ever done in a car!) then taking it off when up there for the full opentop experience smile

Yes had a great drive down to Lugano then back up through Switzerland. Really a pleasure to get the car on some lovely continental roads, rather than the pot holed stuff it normally gets. Off to the French Alps in the new year for its first ski trip, can't wait:-)

Wonderful photo Ribbs!

It's made me even more determined to get a load of pennies together and take the SL on a European trip :-)

Following from my thread on here recently about looking for a W124. Here it is, picked up at weekend. 280, grey leather, 170k. Seems to be in generally good order. Have it booked in with SS Motors in W Byfleet tomorrow for a check over and fettle. I love it so far, bit more sluggish than I'm used to but just need to get into wafting around mode. Few niggly problems which I'm sure I'll be on here soon to ask about. Over all, well chuffed.....

Some of my CLK

The 300SL in the garage in the last pic belonged to my GF's late grandad. '91 H, two owners from new, 34000 genuine miles. I could've bought this, but hadn't really got the space/time for it, so stupidly passed on it. However, my GF's grandma was tired of it sat in the garage, so invited a local trader round a couple of weeks ago to look at it. He offered her (and this is where I get a lump in my throat) £3300, and she took it. If I'd had any idea she'd have given it away sold it for that little, I'd have snapped her hand off. frown

More pics...

No, was never advertised.

I must be going mad. I saw an advert for a blue, low milage (around that) early R129 a few months ago that looked like was taken in the same garage (there was a breezeblock wall on the left side of the car - as in your shot). I remember a yellow lead going into the car.

Spooky! Deffo wasn't this one though. Any idea how much that car was advertised for, just to make me more annoyed I didn't buy this one?

I can't remember, but unless your one had the head gasket done and other bits and pieces (while low miles, the parts are 18 years old!) there is at least £3000 work waiting and sooner than later. They are also awful to drive (had one) as massively underpowered. For £6500 you can get a decent mid 90's SL500 which is another level entirely and with a lot more toys (aircon, nicer interior etc).

The trader probably has it at some silly markup that someone will pay because it has low miles. So what. You pay a premium for low miles and cannot drive it without losing money. Or it sits in a garage, which is the very worst thing you can do to a R129.

If you wanted to buy it to then resell it....then nothing I can say to help there as quite a bit of £££ in it.

Yep, that was all I'd have wanted it for. If it had been a 500 I'd have been more tempted to buy it for myself. I drove it a few times, it wasn't quick by any means, but it still felt tight as a drum as you'd expect with those miles.
