Looks stunning, congrats! I'm very interested in getting one of these as my first Merc but probably an SL43 once they hit the used market

This is my first Mercedes-Benz, after owning a modified TVR S2 for 26 years. It has the sports package, but fortunately the 1st owner deleted the garish scarlet seat-belts and paid for almost every other option. Sadly, not the Harman-Kardon hi-fi, which would have been nice.

I didn't want the typical silver coachwork, and spent nearly a year looking for a tasteful dark colour with full main dealer history and low mileage (40,000). The build sheet shows that the paint ("designo graphite metallic") was an eye-watering £1165 option - so not surprising that most buyers settled for silver.

The new personalised reg number is one which the DVLA just had sitting on the shelf, unwanted. It's a nod to the fact that when drawing up a list of cars which could replace my beloved old TVR, after factoring in all the things it had to do, including fit in a very short garage, the short-list became a list of one. Therefore (ERGO) my next car had to be an SLK-350.

Lovely car. I hear you on the red seat belts, though.

I was seriouly looking at a 213 E43 to replace my 212 E500 until I saw the seatbelts.

What were they smoking??

Not mine but I thought you would like to be informed about this extensive MB collection in the Netherlands.

A 2017 Nico Ockhuisen visit memory:

I have a serious soft spot for the W114/5 series and the follow up W123. Check out this nice coupe in Extreme Elfenbein.

More W123: Kombi love.

And then there's the 300-series: Adenauer limo. The W186 series offers all you can expect from a car that in period could easily compete with the equivalent, like a Bentley or Rolls Royce.

Check https://www.ockhuisencollectie.nl/ for more.

Mrs C's SLK230 owned since 2002. Refurbishment chronicled in Readers Cars under Defying the doom-mongers - the SLK R170

My recently acquired - Japanese import - 2012 C200. Seen here channeling its inner TR7.

That's lovely. I picked up a Paladium Silver 350 just before Christmas last year. 2011, sports pack, 41k miles. Love it. Prefer yours though -- where did you find it?

Many thanks.
Very jealous.
Had a C36 and E55(non supercharged) and really regret letting them go.
Both were absolutely the definition of wolf I sheep's clothing.
Genuinely think I'd have the 36 back of all my previous cars even over the holy grail that is the E39 M5.
By modern standards not that quick but just such a lively mix. Super engine, lively noise, classy interior and on and on.
Enjoy

Typical upright speedo and column shifter

W111 Fintail came with chrome bits here and there

Lots of manual bits to play with

"where did you find it?" (ER60 SLK)

It was a trade-in with the Sytner main dealer in Bath - so a very long train & taxi journey from Lancashire. For some reason, they first advertised it here on Pistonheads, and not via AutoTrader or the other usual outlets. I had set up an e-mail alert on this website, so I saw the advert as soon as it was uploaded. I sent an enquiry by e-mail, and within a few hours they sent me a link to a personalised video, showing me all the areas I had asked about (front wing edges, subframe etc).

I was very impressed with their customer service, and am happy to recommend this dealer.

Not mine, but happy to dump here: 300SL and 300SEL heaven.

The R107 300SL and the w126 300SEL are true 80s icons and represent a classic era for Mercedes-Benz: robust, classy, comfortable and made to last. The new 3 litre engine is a step up compared with the 60s 2.8 straight six.

This particular R107 used to be owned and driven by Dutch business tycoon Sylvia Toth. A fantastic driver this.

The SEL has royal heritage: former Queen Juliana transportation.

Thought I'd add something current from MB to the thread. Broken the habit of a lifetime and went for a new car to go along with the other junk I like to purchase. Ordered in October and arrived just before the weekend. It's a GLC300 diesel plug in hybrid with enough electric range (allegedly 60/70 miles) for our daily needs and to keep the tax man away. I tried the petrol version but thought it was a bit 'busy' through the gears so as I'll tow a bit with it, went for the lazier diesel back-up. At the time I ordered it, there were a number of black and white ones immediately available with even bigger looking wheels than this one has, glad I was patient for once!

Purchased this E400d 4MATIC AMG Line Premium Plus Night Edition a few weeks back,
It's a bit of a mouthful, but it has toys and goes pretty well for a heavy German wench smile
Dealer photo is the best I have, hasn't stopped raining long enough to give it a wash smile

Thanks, I'm a long term Jaguar owner, BMW before that, so this is a new departure.
Still coming to terms with going backward when I mean to go forward. Having the gearstick where the wipers should be is fun !

My third Mercedes, a 2018 E63S, had it since December 2023 and came out of a C63S. Never owned a 'normal' Mercedes (and don't intend to!).
