I don't like the rims or exposed rivets but

This was the advert. With it being a racer I thought someone would know the car perhaps.

Maybe feasible to put something like that back on the road it was just an idea.
Kind of where I'd expect a competitive race race to be priced despite the battle scars. I wouldn't try to make a road car out of it though, this never really works!

Yea to be fair a friend once converted a race series maestro turbo for road use it was way too harsh.
Something red, minimalist and non rotten will do just fine if you hear of anything coming up. My search buds are tingling. I miss my Sunbeam lotus and the 105 is a better looking car :-)
Would £30-40k get anything decent that's been restored perhaps?

You would get something in that range yes. I don't think there are too many around at the moment though. Keep looking for adverts and view as many as you can.
The buyers guide sold by veloce publishing is a worthwhile investment, though it's about 10 years old now and some cars he might have considered too far gone might be worth it now.

Not necessarily something restored but you ought to net something rather nice for that.

The one by Keith Booker? Am looking at eBay and Amazon now if that's the one.

Published by veloce, small soft back book but very useful.

Bit of a thread resurrection. There is a possibility I can buy a car which has had a decent amount of the GTA kit (engine, suspension, brakes) fitted to it. Be interested to hear real world experience of these cars.

I've got a GTA "homage" Resto mod whatever you'd call it. And I love it.
They drive great, for the era, 5 speed box etc. Light steering on the move, fast road suspension , decent enough brakes etc. Prob 900kg and 140bhp is enough in an old car so any more power is a bonus. Easy to work on, spares next day from suppliers generally. No tax or mot and cheap classic insurance!

Ensure the bodywork restoration was right. Mechanical bits easy enough and all parts available.

That sounds a lot like my car except mine had a largely standard interior (bar steering wheel and seats). They are a lot of fun and quick enough for most situations. Mine has the 200 bhp Alfaholics engine, suspension, brakes, gearbox, LSD etc etc.

Fire away with any questions or feel free to drop me a message and we can have a chat.

Reading this thread through again from the beginning its remarkable to see how much prices have changed since the beginning in 2013. There is mention of GTA-R's from £65k. I'd say thats extremely unlikely nowadays, as is finding decent standard ones at £20k as mentioned.
Mamba, I had the pleasure of looking over yours at the last Duke of London meet and it is a lovely thing indeed.

Yes, the days of buying an Alfaholics car for £65k are long gone. I think they are £230k+ now for a new car with a log waiting list. Crazy time’s and prices.

I’ve seen your car as well and met your partner in crime with the rat rod / saloon. Great cars, would be good to say hello next time.

Hopefully good news for people who have similar cars but without the Alfaholics new price tag! :-)

I'd like to think that you are right, but I doubt that a niche market of about 20 GTA-Rs would have much effect on the many, largely unmodified 105s out there.

Prices do seem to be creeping on specific 105s which is good. 1750s seemingly very sought after.
