They must be the wrong springs; the rear of these cars should sit much lower.
You could try cutting a turn off each spring but the chances are, that the spring rates of what it's got at the moment are wrong anyway.

The standard pattern passenger side mirrors are useless.
To compound it, the glass is flat, buy another make of door mirror with a slightly convex glass;
dismantle it and glue the convex glass onto to Alfa pattern flat glass.
The result will be better but not that much better.

Sorry, but isn't that seriously bad advice?

Okay - start with half a turn and see what that does smile.
What the OP has at the moment appears completely wrong.

It's the safari edition. It was a very rare auto delta option.

It does look a little high.
Cutting a link off isn't as daft as it sounds, but I think I would be looking to see if its got the wrong springs on rather than bashing things about. I think Spider springs have a different rating.

Also I have noticed it takes a few minutes for the car to settle if its being jacked up at the rear so perhaps the photo was taken after that operation?.

Common opinion is that the Bertone should sit slightly higher at the front than the back, if set up for a more 'sporting' drive than standard.

Also back to the GT Junior (Tuxman), it looks to have a 1750 GTV grill and four headlight set up. Not a bad thing, prettier than the two headlamp version or the later full width grill in my book, but not original in case you were unaware. smile
Not sure when the dual circuit Brakes came in either, (Circa 1969) but I 'think' that might be from a later versions too.

I had a 1600 GT Junior and absolutely loved it. Achingly gorgeous, retro and a real classic - and that was about 18 years ago!
Values appear to really be rising now - wish I still had it - sold to buy the then girlfriend now wifes engagement ring! smile (....seemed like a good idea at the time - only joking darling!)
I saw it for sale a few years on AlfaHolics - still showing as SORN on the DVLA - anyone have it here? Silver SRK 13N...........

Looks very expensive.

Jamie Porter advertised a very solid, decent GT Junior for less than half of that a few weeks ago, cant find the advert but give them a call on Tel: 01763 244441 or 01763 245481

Top money for one of the lesser valued models in the range.
It's got the earlier grill and should have the larger rear lights too, so isn't particularly original if that is of concern to a buyer.
Very much a 'parts bin' car, though to be fair its got some of the nicer parts in the bin

They're a lovely car. Benchmark Alfa for me.

Sorry, nothing helpful to add but will read other people's experience with interest.

Like others said before, quite expensive. Also I would take a thorough look at the sills (or rockers? I always mix it up UK-USsmile ) it looks like the seams which are suppose to be in the sills at the front and back of the doors aren't there. If you're not familiar with rust on these cars; that's not a good sign. It could be nothing (except that's it not original), but it could also be a bad rust repair. Also I find it weird they put in a mesh grill, but only the big part and non the two small ones. Again it could be fine, but it warrants a good look.

/\ This.
It's a stupid amount of money for that model.

I dislike the 15" wheels, yes I know you can get a larger selection of tyres in that size,
but to me they just look so wrong.

Cold starting wise are you using the choke? My son's car starts easily with full choke and a couple of pedal pumps, then ease the choke in once started, that's what it is for...Same on my Spider.

A good Nord will start even in winter or after a few weeks rest.

That's the common opinion but it's wrong! The car should sit level so with the bottom edge of the door parallel to the ground.

It's the differing shapes of the front and rear arches that makes them look like they're sitting down at the back when they're set up correctly.

This is how cars end up too tall at the back, people jack them up to equalise the gap between the top of the tyre and the bottom of the arch forgetting that the front arch is round and the top of the rear one is flattened off.

Hi all

Seems like a good place to post up a picture I've recently found of my fathers 1976 GT Junior. Taken in the summer of 1977 when the car was pretty new. Ride height always looked high to me but I guess that's how they were ?

Not a great picture but my dads chuffed with this one and the others I'm putting together of his cars (also had an early Sud before the GT Junior).

Looking at the DVLA website the car is still on the road although not doing much mileage between MoT's. Always nice to find a fondly remembered car still being enjoyed smile

Cheers
Simon

Yes, that's how they looked as standard, this is an official Alfa Romeo press photo of the 2000 GTV that I send to customers to show them original ride height. It's useful if they want to know how much lower one of our suspension kits will make the car. I can tell them 1" or 2" lower than this-
