Although www.alfaromeo.co.uk/ doesn't work.

Come on guys get it together...today of all days.

Works fine, but no mention of the Brera (not prominently, anyway). Nice one ARUK

Yes we are web developers so ave the latest wingle wangles installed...appears it doesn't like Macs.

Looked at the source and by passed the front flash movie.

I dont know how much info is out there yet but i have a few questions.

1 is it me or does it look as though its stacked on the weight? the back looks like a hippo now compared to the concept, or is it just the colour of the show car

2 Anyone know when the 2005 Geneva Motor Show is ???

3 Does it appear less 'slender' compared to the concept? it looks more like the height of the 147...

These most likely have been covered but i just REALY wanna know

Yep, it's lost a bit of the concepts great proportions, but still looks great.

One thing though, lovely as the Alfa GT is, who's going to buy one now? Both are 2+2 and have similar engines/chassis etc.

I'll be popping down to our local Alfa dealer as soon as they have one in. I wonder if my daughter's pram will fit in the boot......might just have to part-ex the Sprogwagen

Well, I can fit a Maclaren buggy (plus other sqauashy baggage) in the 110 litre boot that the GTV has (i.e. with space saver in place), so you should be fine with the 240 litres in the Brera. Even more so if the rear seats do a split fold.

Judging by the build quality and ergonomics of our 156 GTA, (Another great-looking and great-performing motor),I'd check it out very carefully before considering it...

For example, does the radio go off when you turn the heated rear window on? Does it give the driver sciatica on a long journey? Do you get your fingers trapped down the side of the seat when you adjust the driving position? If it has heated seats, do you have to get out of the car or wait 'til your bum boils to see if they're switched on? Does the diff disintegrate at speed?

Probably not, as neither does the GTA's AFAIAA.
Having driven a 75 for years and still using two old GTV's for the weekends, these cars have given me only joy. Which is more than I can say for the Golf V I drive daily (not by choice, btw).

That GTV is what a mid size coupé should look like, and reading the specs... luurveley!

I just compared this to some other cars comming out soon, whats the point of buying the 40k brera when for another 15k you could buy the new jag xk8??? or for an extra 20k (ok abit more i admit) you could pick up a chrysler firepower, or even a second hand porsche 911 for 40k??? i just dont see the point of paying all that money when for abit more or the same you could do alot better. And lets not speak about how much the turbo model would be

After all in Oz 40k pound is around 100kAU !!!

only thing that could save this car is a decent body kit and a jaw dropping interior...btw anyone seen the insides yet ??

That is blood-curdlingly beautiful. What I like about Alfas is that they are practical cars you could drive every day, but with styling that makes the current Ferrari range look overdone and flashy. I actually see some sense in getting a diesel one if it was offered a company car - imagine eating the miles in that. If you didn't know what the price was, you'd think it was a Maserati rival.

Well done Alfa, you're still at the top of my 'everyday driver' lists

The 3.2 is actually around 28k in UK pounds at todays exchange rate.

I wonder what the BiTurbo will be priced at though...

How long have Alfa had to design a replacement for the GTV and yet still they come up with a car which doesnt have the proportions, style or its sheer elegance.

A bloated 147 will not, Im afraid, do.

It won't be replacing the GT but the GTV.

I'm wondering if the Alfa engineers have managed to make the Holden sourced V6 fitted to the Brera as thrilling as the Alfa V6...

True. Seems to be treading on the GT's toes more than a little, though.

Lets hope. Apparently a lot of work is being done on the Holden unit, with a particular emphasis on the "Alfa sound", which can only be a good thing!

Interesting thread.

A couple of weeks back on this site there was this new supercar designed by f1 people, it was universally hated. MB Cars or something forgettable.

Then this comes along which is universally adored, I for one rang up a dealer today.

My faith in car design restored!

Ehm, not universally. Actually I was quite disappointed about the back of the car. Overall it's not nearly as exciting as the concept car...

I don't really like the proportions, but maybe my expectations are too high...

Doesn't work on my Mac either. Rather pathetic of them.

Don't they check these things? You should always ensure cross-platform compatibility. Not to mention the fact that every car website nowadays uses flash for everything. Atrocious.

Oh for crying out loud, compare this with an M6 and tell me this is not beautiful. And I'm not even mentioning that squashed beetle / tatra ripp-off they build in Zuffenhausen

This is a main car manufacturer bringing sex on wheels, in my book that is worthy of applause, even if you're not in the market for it.

That said, they really should build the 8C as well though.

BUT you are all missing something - a sales network that actually sells! I have been to my local dealer sending out buying signals, subtle ones like "I want to buy a 156 sportwagon" and have got absolutelly nowhere! They can not get the spec I want and so are tottally not interested, despite me going back 3 times - nada zilch just not interested in what they do not have in stock! New model coming so sod off mate and die - buy what we have and don't annoy us! Your loss Alfa - shame because I love Italian style... No matter it looks great has soul, but if you flat out can't be bothered to sell me the car..... I will just go and buy something else!

I know this might not be the correct place for this but this SL Roadster is one beautiful car.
Not only looks good but has a twin turbo nissan V6 and weighs only 800kg.
Did I mention it looks good?
