£95k is a serious wedge of cash. The petrol head in me says low mileage QF and let someone else take the initial hit then have cash in bank for some other toy. £30k spare could get a lot of toys if needed.
The 911 T won't lose much if anything if you keep the mileage down but the that defeats the point of buying it and using it hard for me if you'll have one eye on resale values.

If money isn't a worry then just drive the pants off it :-)
You are indeed a sensible chap and in ordinary circumstances I would agree with you.

I'm once bitten twice shy though and having had a dog of an early QF I simply cannot get the idea of a used one past Mrs RSK given it would be of similar vintage to my first much maligned one.

Whatever i get is going to be daily driver, I do lowish miles anyway, trip to the station and back and then a couple of big road trips a year and the odd track day. If I went the 911 route it wouldn't be a garage queen.

Without going into too much detail I can cover the QF in one go (albeit the advanced payment plan Alfa offer probably seems the best option ) whereas the 911 would need some more creative accounting .......

Nice position to be in! Couple of 2017 model QF on PH ads as we speak that look tidy as an option. I emailed dealer in week about one but it had sold.

Sounds good. You know if you get the Porsche you'll still always have that Quad itch.
Be good to welcome you back to the Alfa family.

D Day for me today.

Have come to the expensive conclusion that the M4 I bought to replace my temperamental early build Quad just isn’t for me.

I miss the sound, the feel and overall fun of the Quad and as certain people here know have been regretting my decision for some while.

So I have found a replacement, Comp red, dark 5 holes, privacy, convenience pack, H/K, carbon wheel, elec seat pack, red brakes. It’s built and on the way, would be on my drive by the end of the month.

There is but one fly in the ointment .....

I have been offered a cancelled build slot on a 911T. Car can stil be specced, I think will hold value incredibly well and if reviews are to be believed is a great drive. Downside is it is significantly more expensive than the Quad and not as quick.

Decision time !
Do you own cars to drive and have fun or just to own ?? Most Porsche’s do few miles as owners fear depreciation so if you really want to enjoy the car and it ends up with a few miles on it the Porsche might not be such a great deal. An Alfa , even a high miler may loose if measured monetarily a lot less . Also Porsche’s, well there are a lot of them , far less Alfa’s . In the end it’s what your gut feeling tells you

Hmmm

As mentioned previously this car will be my daily driver so it’s bit simply “to own”.

Yes I agree the Alfa is a rare car but to say there “a lot of Porsches” isn’t quite right. Even less appropriate about the 911T.

Sadly the point is moot now. A discussion around the kitchen table yesterday made it clear to me that a second Quad would not be well received !

Disappointing but understandable and not a battle worth fighting frown

Enjoy those of you who have one, they are brilliant cars.

Turn up in the 911T and announce, "you told me not to get the Alfa..." wink

Too much worrying going on with these cars.

Of course it will have been in for updates. It'll have had its first service too. I'd imagine it's as good as any QF currently on the road. Ie bloody awesome!

What he said.... People are waiting for QVs to go wrong, nervous about buying them, whilst all around M3s/M4s/C63s/etc have a standard number of issues and 'Friday afternoon' cars.

That black car was up for £55k for around 6 months before it was reduced last week. They all stick when at mid £50k, but once reduced to £49995 they sell within a few weeks. I thought about it until I ran the reg through WBAC.

I’m not going by WBAC. Just interested to know any history and questions to ask. It’s price is what I expect for spec, I’m sure trade value is circa £45k, but not sub £40k as WBAC states! they are allowed to make a profit. Looking forward to seeing it

I did.

Needed to be something practical and as lovely as the 911 is it just seemed to much of a compromise in various areas.

Wouldn’t entertain a C63 as I would be forever comparing it to the Quad.

I see less Giulia's on the road than I do Porsches.
As attractive as the Quad is, the 911 is a lot more "look at me!"
If you do go for the Porsche, let us know. I could jump on that slot for the Quad as mine is only just about to start it's way down the line.
PM me if you are interested and I can put you in touch with the chap who found it for me.

Comp red, red brakes, elec seats, convenience pack, Harman Kardon, carbon wheel, dark 5 hole alloys

Its almost the exact same spec I am waiting for. If it's on the dealer network then surely my dealer will be able to see it on the list of incoming cars..?
PM sent.
