I've got a QF, mine suffers from low speed brake squeal. I've only done 2000 miles so still breaking it in. And the weather in the UK doesnt really justify some high speed braking at the moment. I've read a few of these suffering the same problem so I think it's either a recall for all, or just a side affect from the performance discs & pads. But doesnt bother me because of what else the QF has to offer.

I also get low speed scrubbing from the standard Corsa's which is normal. And drives me nuts to be honest. I believe swapping to MPS stops this problem as well.

Otherwise epic car, really really epic guys. My previous cars are both Nissan 350z & 370z and the QF is in a different league for performance, handling & noise. The ZF box is a work of art too, lightening fast gear changes. Then stick it in A mode and it's just a sleeper. Just so planted and comfortable whereas my 370z was quiet a hard ride as a daily.

Mine also rides a bit high. Not sure if AR changed the suspension setup on the late 2017 / 2018 models but it's something that definitely caught my eye. But, I'm not really that bothered as I can clear speedbumps with ease without worrying about the front carbon diffuser. I cant comment about handling but seems fine to me. I know AHM are now supplying 10mm lowering springs because of this as well.

And as far as the different modes go, I cant tell any difference in performance but in Race mode the gear changes are a lot faster, like lightening quick.

Mine is Monte Carlo Blue, standard except the optional 19" alloys, the colour is glorious with hints of purple almost colour flip style when sunny.

Hello all,

I've been running my Giulia here in Germany for over six months and 8000km now. Overall, I think it's fantastic, but it does have a few niggles the dealer has been unable to help with.

1. At low speeds the brakes often squeal terribly. It doesn't happen all the time, but when it happens, it's far from subtle... To date, I've been unable to figure out when it will or won't happen.

2. I have a manual gearbox, and both first and second gear can be somewhat tricky to get into. I realise the UK only has the auto, but was hoping you may have come across something on another forum.

3. On full lock the front tyres rub in the arches. The dealer insists "they all do that". Oddly, it's currently on winter tyres (Michelin PA4 in original sizes) and has stopped rubbing.

Any suggestions on any of the above?

Many thanks in advance.
1/ Mine does the same. It's not so frequent, so I just let it go. It also stops if you apply a little less or a little more pressure.

2/ First goes fine, a bit heavy, but second is tricky, especially when cold. I blame the user as it's consistent: it will work OK if you have just the right path. A little bit too much left or center and it's heavy or simply refuses to go (à la old Ferrari). On the flip side, it is a delight with heel and toe! There is a very tangible reward if you heel and toe, getting second becomes slick and fast, even when cold.

3/ It's not rubbing it's skipping and the rigidity (and lack of friction in cold mornings) of the Pirelli Corsa is to blame.

The skipping is not entirely down to the Tyres, it’s related to steering geometry and all Giulia’s do it, the stickier the Tyres the worse it is.

It doesn’t happen on my Winter Conti’s, but it did on my Corsa’s when the weather got cooler - it did not happen on the Corsa’s in warm weather, so I suspect it is entirely down to hard rubber skipping and not the geometry as you suggest.

It’s widely reported on social media and even explained by Alfa themselves as being a function of the steering geometry. Look up Ackerman principle. Yes Tyre type has an effect, but it’s a geometric issue.

In my experience it has been entirely tyre type that affected it. In normal/warm weather with the Corsa’s no issue, cold weather Corsa’s tyre skipping occurs which suggests tread blocks, with the Conti’s no issue in any temperature. I am sure geometry has an impact, but so to does the temperature and the stiffness of the tread blocks.

I am still looking forward to having my Corsa’s back on in April. The Conti’s have been great over the winter but they will start to tail off soon.

Jeeze is that a new car? If so how did that get out of the factory never mind the dealers?! Worst new car paint job I've seen

Brand new. 1,749 miles in already, squealing brakes when coming to a halt but staying on the loud pedal cures that wink

Paint issue is an odd one. Looked pristine but then we had our annual two days of rain and suddenly it appeared. Dealer has always been great so it should get sorted quickly.

Hi All,

Just picked up my Quad this afternoon and interested to hear what advice owners were given with regards to running in?

I was told cars are track and factory tested prior to delivery so there is no need to ease the car through the first 1000 or so miles.

What were others told?

Congrats on your new car, looks good. Just be sensible for the first 1,000 miles, it is a serious engine, so a bit of early tlc will pay dividends. After that, get some warmth in the oil and give it the beans! ; )

They are good to go off the forecourt. Obviously a bit of mechanical sympathy would be advised at first but you don't need to run it in.

I was called by the dealer today and sent over details from Alfa romeo on the quadrifoglio Nring limited edition asking if I would be interested and a grand deposit will secure me one depending on alication number of cars coming to the U.K. as there is only 108 in total
At present I have the quadrifoglio purchase new in March 2017 some people on here may know I had problems which after numerous calls to Alfa in Italy we came to an agreement for all the problems to be sorted plus compensation in cash back , a free trip to Italy ,and carbon fibre grill, gear leaver, carbon mirrors caps , car cover , boot mat, alloy fuel cap and oil cap
When I ordered the car all extras ticked ( less carbon brakes) also including sparko carbon seats also has 3 year service pack
The car as just covered 900 miles only and been kept in a fully heated garage with my other cars
Colour is com/ red
If a Nring becomes available to me long as it is RHD and I pay the deposit this coming week , it don’t matter to me when it arrives
So if anyone interested in my present quadrifoglio no finance on the car I would consider a reasonable offer
On the 19th March Alfa dealership are sending a pick up lorry to collect the car for its first service
Then detailer will come an re/ Swiss Wax the car

Could be 900 as servicing is 9,000 miles or 1 year, whichever comes first and it's been almost a year.
In which case, like you say, seems a bit pointless changing but each to their own.

Told the same, they didnt even tell me to stay out of Race mode. But to be honest I was careful for the first 400-500 miles because of the other consumables like bedding in the brakes and tyres. Be patient and wait for the dryer warmer weather (it is f-in amazing though).

Yes only 900 miles but you still have to have a yearly service the car as a 3 year service pack
It has not been driven since the end of August just garaged and a trickle charger used during the cold months
It is low mileage because I have other cars and I live here in the U.K. and Spain
