Depreciation...i just walked out of my AR dealership and I am not an happy bunny...my 67 reg with 5k miles is now worth £43k ... paid just over £60k with £5k of option less than 6 months ago...any similar experience? Are AR dealers taking the mic and not supporting second hand value?
That dealer is taking the piss. That's a £53k minimum car, all day. They are just being greedy.

Think the suspension on mine is finally starting to settle, it definitely looks lower now than it did when I Collected it. Now over 1000miles so can finally drive it like it’s meant to be driven.
What mod did you do to your front numberplate? Are you using the smaller holder? Looks a lot better than the standard plate tbh.

Curious as well that you think your suspension is settling, I'm 3k in and sometimes it looks lower, yet other-times seems higher.
I asked the dealer not to fit the front plate so it’s got no holes screwed through the front bumper, the plate I’ve put on is a 3/4 size sticker.

Mine seems to look lower than it did when I collected it but maybe it’s my imagination.
It still looks higher than I’d like, think I’ll probably still go for the AHM lowering springs at some point.

Legally the dealer shouldn't release the car to you without a legal front number plate, fitted as part of the car's registration.

Dealer taking the piss with trade it. TADTS.

My old 640d got trade offers of under £20k when I sold it privately for over £26k. Never begrudge another man his dollar, but have your eyes wide open wink

£43k offer is taking the piss. My local dealer (who sold me mine) recently paid £49k for a March 2017 car (came in on the same lorry as mine) and sold for £53k after one phone call. I think anything below £47k is an utter bite but we shouldn't be expecting over £50k on a year old car in px or private. People just don't have the cash these days, and if they do they can get 0% through a dealer or a good discount.

https://www.fancyplates.com

It’s for show purposes only, obviously I always fit a full size legal plate when I drive it on the road.

Asked about trading in the 4C towards the original Vanquish that just happened to appear on their inventory. $47k with 8k (now 10k) on the clock. Got it for $62+taxes/fees so a drop of about $21-22k in less than a year. Had a week of reading up on the Vanquish, maintenance costs and a manual conversion and instantly decided the depreciation on the Alfa was quite fine with me hehe

Gorgeous looking creature though..

Well that took a while to read all 61 and a bit pages! All very informative stuff however. It’s possibly a long shot but do any current owners have any experience of the AR dealers/service centres in the northern half of Scotland? Car wise I’m on the lookout for something a bit more family orientated and it’s down to the Alfa or m3 comp pack. Whilst I’m sure both drive fantastically well, I feel that I will require a decent level of back up should ownership not go to plan!! My “local” dealers would be AC in Aberdeen or Donald mackenzie in Inverness. Does anybody use either? I’ve not had much success with AC in Aberdeen over the years but as Inverness is my home town and I still have family there it wouldn’t be too much of a hardship.

Appreciate any comments or thoughts on the subject.

Look at it this way, for the once/twice a year you need to visit the dealer, you have some of the best driving roads to get there wink

The other thing is i am led to believe the Alfa is a more comfortable drive than the BMW/AUDI/MERC equivalents as the suspension is not set up as harshly.

QV owners on here I am sure can verify or deny.

Yes, but I'd say more because it has a wider range. 'E' and 'Normal' is softer than the M3 Comfort. Dynamic is similar to BMW sport+, but with better damping, and the soft damper setting drops that back to a similar setting to BMW Sport. Race takes it to be even firmer, but again with better damping benefitting both ride and grip/traction.

....all in my first hand experience but lay-person's understanding wink

I drove them back to back. The BMW set up if just very hard, and not very compliant. The Merc is far better, Audi wan't in the game. IME, the Alfa's set up is just better...perhaps the result of Ferrari-suspension gurus input?

As for the feel.....the Alfa just feels alive and makes the Germans' feel, well, Germanic.

Donald Mackenzie Motors is a family run independent dealership which I have bought many cars from over the years and used them for servicing and warranty work and they are very good but without all the fancy coffee and leather chairs.
It's a no frills experience but the owner has a 4C and QV and the salesmanager is a no bullst guy and is very good to deal with.
They are the complete opposite of AC and that has to be a good thing.

That’s good to hear. Coffee and leather chairs I can do without. I do remember Donald Mackenzie from way back when I used to frequent Corrie motors next door. It’s been a good 20 years since I’ve been in past though. Next time I’m home I’ll probably go in past for a chat...

Thanks for the feedback.
