Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio - Anyone Ordering One

I thought that was the QF's clear advantage over rivals with all that carbon fibre, that it weighed around 1600kg and the lightest in it's class..
G
Until you get it on the scales and see 1700kg. No car has weighed in under 1700kg. G
That's with no driver and 1/4 tank of fuel.
It's still an epic car.

I managed to get a brief "diff overheating" whilst sliding around a lot at an airfield, but that went away once cooled down. I was trying really hard to be the drifting god that I am in my head
If you have Corsa tyres then they can easily overheat and de-laminate, Michelins are more durable for track.
As said, tyres and brake costs. but the sheer agility and pace for a saloon are astonishingly good.
I was euphoric after getting to drift her about a bit, putty in my hands etc

Hey Don, did you end up buying one?
G
Thanks for asking,G
Yes indeed I took delivery of a new white one 1st.september last year.
Deeply regret having dealt with Palmers in Hemel Hempstead, hardly used it over the winter I was that peed off with their shabby ways, but have put about 2500 miles on since the spring. A couple of track days may help to feel a little more confidant pushing on on public roads on those few occasions that it is possible within reason. To a certain extent its power and capabilities put it in frustrating chocolate teapot territory in day to day use, although it is very civilised when just pottering along in any current traffic conditions and there is that unquantifiable sense of occasion.
To an extent a Veloce might have been a better buy for day to day use: it should be easy enough to get 350bhp or more with well written software calibrations, full replacement exhaust, turbo rework and so on, and from previous experience there is a great satisfaction in those projects., done properly. My much missed 350bhp 5 pot Focus ST gave me a more involving drive more of the time in current driving conditions when the hooligan element provoked an itch to scratch.
I do also have a Volvo XC90 diesel, usefull for carrying half a pallet of bricks and others stuff that I could not put in the QF. I have to say that Volvo, with a software upgrade, really does manage most UK journeys at a similar pace to that sensibly achievable with the QF and does not attract Audi drivers to its arse like flies......
Did you get one in the end?
Don.

Glad to hear you went for it Don, I bet it looks stunning in white and quite a rare colour too for a QF! Per my post above, I went for a brand new RS5, as wanted to stick with a coupe. I purchased an Abarth 595 from my local Alfa dealer (Glyn Hopkins) in readiness for a QF, however the coupe version never made it and I went for the RS5 and very pleased with it. Also not that many around a bit like the QF.Yes indeed I took delivery of a new white one 1st.september last year.

Agree on your sentiments, these cars can get you into trouble on the roads very quickly. They are not far off super car pace.

You're going to kill tyres. And that's never going to be cheep at about £1200 a set. Brakes are superb and I have not heard of anyone having issues with prolonged heavy use. I'm not sure how they would last with constant track hammer tho.
A change to Michelins would solve the tyre issues. Just as Alfa UK did at Goodwood and Millbrook. smarty156 said:

It did solve the wear issues but with the increased durability there was reduced grip by a small margin. I'm going to try the mps4s on the track soon so I'll see how they compare.smarty156 said:

The front end is everything to me. I could never live with that compromise. I'm having to re-calibrate with the capabilities of this car. It's so planted and confident in the steering it's almost counter intuitive. The faster you go, the grip just grows. I've had fast RWD before but this rewrites the rules.

It will be interesting to see what you think. Can you do a track you've done before with the Corsas so lap time comparisons can be made 😀smarty156 said:

The RS5 is nice, but it so isn’t a QF ; )Agree on your sentiments, these cars can get you into trouble on the roads very quickly. They are not far off super car pace.

Hi all, more help/advice needed please. Have just read on AutoExpress that warranty is 2 years factory and 1 year dealer. Does anyone know if the 1 year dealer part is transferable to second owner? Any information would be much appreciated, thanks.
Yes the one year dealer warranty is transferable. You can also extend the warranty with MOPAR. Make sure you use the Mopar warranty if you do as they dealers are trying to push another 3rd party warranty which is in no way as comprehensive.
