Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio - Anyone Ordering One
Discussion
I'm not convinced that will speed it up to be honest. What they say and what actually happens can often be two different things.
At the end of the day it's just one of thousands of cars being shipped. My experience with this sort of thing ( we sell fiat industrial products) is that one minute the status is showing as barely shipped or two weeks away when chasing, and then suddenly it turns up the day after you were chasing.
I don't think there is much of a science to it regardless of the status numbers.
If I don't hear from my dealer next week I'll chases them up but that's about all I can do I think.

Mine jumped from status 12 to 20 overnight. Then on the trip over to the UK and the dealer the status never kept up with the physical position of the car. It will come, soon.

I hear what you are saying and I don't necessarily trust the status numbers as the cars can sit for a while in them, but I've worked in supply chain for over 20years and I can assure you a little bit of escalation and questioning can work wonders! I just hope it has in this case- the most frustrating thing is just not knowing and being given incorrect or changing information- I'm seeing that from the other side here so learning a lesson! That was kind of what I meant i. e. Did they call you or did you chase them. It always seems to be me chasing my dealer.
I emailed him on Wednesday and asked for an update. He said he was just about to call me as my car went to status 20 the day before. Yeah right. So why didn't he phone me the day before? It's quite annoying.

I got fed up with the changing info so wrote a stroppy email about it asking for it to be escalated to the dealer principle as I didn't think that the salesman was doing more than checking the code when I rang and at best getting the run around by their supply chain organisation. He got involved and got clearer information and now I get a call every day or two.I emailed him on Wednesday and asked for an update. As I said above I do think it is worth putting a bit of presssure in the system
Don't forget he is dealing with many cars, and most of all his job is to sell, not to provide constant updates, as nice as that would be.
I worry about pushing some of these people too hard, they might grate cheese over the engine bay or something in protest!!(not literally, but you know what I mean). The same feeling you get when you wonder if the waiter would spit in your food!
They relationship between a dealer and a manufacturer is usually a strained one at best, the dealer is often kept in the dark and it's on a need to know basis, even if the dealer does make regular inquiries. That's my take on it anyway.
