I leave mine in auto most of the time. It's uncannily good. Even in N, if your mood changes and you start flooring it then the gearbox starts to adapt straight away.
Re the exhaust, you get the pops and bangs in dynamic, over 3500 rpm at least. However, it is possible to get an aftermarket remote exhaust valve controller should you wish. Or you can block the vacuum hoses and it will leave the exhaust valves permanently open the whole time.
Personally, having had one for just over 6 months, I'd leave it as standard.
I've drawn the same conclusion!Re the exhaust, you get the pops and bangs in dynamic, over 3500 rpm at least. What is it with Alfa main dealers ? I had hoped they'd improved in the ten years since I bought my last new Alfa ( a 156 GTA Sportwagon Selespeed ), but my attempts to get responses to my emails about test driving a Giulia V6 and pxing my GTA have been completely ignored. Mind you, reading the online reviews ( which included a lot of negative comments ) of my local dealer in Bedford, did eventually yield the name of a woman who seemed to be their troubleshooter. When I emailed her re my problems she did respond by stating that she had passed my emailed questions onto the branch sales manager. That didn't work either. You'd have thought that an email re buying an Alfa and pxing another one, and from longstanding fans of the marque should gotten them off their a---s, wouldn't you !

Dealers are st. But then, majority of dealers are going downhill significantly. My local Alfa dealer was initially great, then became st. Hence why they didn't get my custom.
I ended up using a dealer 80 miles away, and would recommend them hugely. Chris Variava.

I just went to see them, yes it’s a 45 minute drive but they have been great and now I just call and get support from people who I have met - works a lot better than emailling.windymissile said:

Sounds like a press car.
Done a bit more research. Looks like it could be a demonstrator. Or a press car as you suggested. Registered in Feb 2017 tho so would be a bit late to be a press car. WM

Have you not read the dealers thread? If you don't turn up with a wad of cash ready to "deal" you are a time waster and to be ignored.TX.

I would tread warily around a car of that vintage.WM
If you go for it then make absolutely sure that the following have been done:
1 - All latest versions of software updates 6116/7/8 have been applied.
2 - That the turbo wastegate valves have been checked and/or replaced
3 - That the fuel pump software update has been applied.

Even moreso, given all press cars seem to be KU66, AND this has had a change of plate from a plate 10yrs before the car's launch, it'd be even more wary as it may well have spent a disproportionate amount of it's time on track or being driven hard by hacks.
Looks like one to dodge or go in bargaining hard.Such a shame as it's 100% perfect spec.

If it’s been well used any niggles should have been found and fixed and if it comes with a guarantee it reduces worries , if it has been abused that’s more likely to show on the state of the interior so I would look more for cosmetic and accident damage than worry about the mechanicals
