I've just bought a 156 2.0TS SW and I'm probably going to have the belts done to be on the safe side, as although there's a full service history there's no evidence they've been done. I live in Fleet, near Farnborough, Hampshire - can anyone suggest a local independant specialist? And it has a few scratches to the bodywork, which I'd like sorted out - can anyone recommend a bodyshop?

I pick it up on Friday, looking forward to the drive home...

You're lucky - there's an independent right on your doorstep - Ken Bell at Alfanatic whose garage is in St James Road right in the middle of Fleet.

Good guy - he's done a lot of work on my 156 and 166. What he doesn't know about Alfas isn't worth knowing.

Number is 01252 629159

That's good, I like a garage I can walk home from. I'll give him a ring. I've been told there's also AH Motorsport in Hartley Wintney, so there's even a local choice.

.. if thats Adie Hawkins Motorsport (AHM) then he does some of the top race engines (and cars) in the Alfa series and is very well respected. You're likely to pay for it mind !!!

Actually his quote for the belts was better than Ken Bell's, and they both sounded that they were for the full works - belts, tensioners, all the other doodahs. (As you can see, I'm not very mechanically literate).
