Absolutely loving mine, even if in true new car tradition the weather has turned just as I finished the running in period and started days off!

I was told the running in period is 250km so 155 or so miles? Just ticked over to 100 miles, got a rather annoying rattle coming from where the glovebox would be on a normal dash and it failed to start first time this morning.

Something something Italian build quality...

The fail to start could have been the code thing the key generates or was it slow to start...as in you turned the key and had to wait?

Couple of rattles from mine but can't hear them over the missus screaming!

Yes you are right, all are available options a except from the badge and Caracalla bag. You would be well over £70k choosing the same spec via options though.

In the options list £700 extra for Carbon mirrors or £800 with the Italian sticker, did made me chuckle when they got stuck on by the dealer just before I collected it.

I thought all the 50th Anniversary spiders had the Italian flag on the wingmirror?

It's a bit of a marketing ploy though really isn't it, its just a well specced Spider and called the Anniversary model. It's not like they have anything different (apart from a small serial plate inside) is it?

Anyone know if the bag has to go back with the car at the end of the lease?

Would have thought so. Friend of mine was charged for the umbrella in his Porsche lease that he thought he could keep

Slow to start, the key as has been said sometimes takes a while to register so just turn it and wait .

Re rattles give it a week, see if you have any other issues and then drop it back to the dealer

Just returned from collecting mine this evening in Derby. 215 miles up already and completely deaf now after travelling 95% motorway.
Have to say it's a fab piece of kit but the steering is very susceptible to tramlining and the exhaust drones loudly.
Anyone know if a replacement sports exhaust from Alfa Workshop or elsewhere reduces the droning?

I specifically asked my dealer not to drill and attach the front number plate plinth but they ignored this completely and I have that ugly contraption on the front, very irritating of them.

That's very annoying! I collected mine from TH Whites in Swindon and they did a very good job preparing the car and handing over. Service has been good all round and I'll probably go back for the first service, even if it is fair distance...any excuse for a drive!

Regarding the race exhaust, it is loud and drones a bit but honestly I think I can put up with it. Alfa works in Royston do an exhaust which is meant to be good.

Handling though, gets a bit twitchy on back roads at speed. Anyone know when the 50th anniversary spiders were actually built/how to find out the build date? Apparently later cars have better handling (revised geometry), can't imagine anything being much more "interesting" than how mine is!

The Alfa works exhaust is good and doesn't drone badly, it may be worth you having a run out in a car that has one , alfaworks have a car running you could try I would have thought or if that's to far I know from the forums they have sold quite a few so worth seeing if they know of a customer near you who might take you out.

Re the bumper if you had specifically asked then they owe you a new bumper although with a lease car you may not have as much clout as you don't own it & they have followed the manufacturers fitment. I would at least fit a flush sticky plate, see the thread on Alfa 4c plates in this section for ideas .

Re the geometry you are correct in saying it was revised although like you I'm not sure when, my first one 3 years ago was scarily interesting , the one I collected late March this year was a lot better but I had that like the first one set up by Alfaworkshop and I feel it's worth it if you are doing mainly road driving, if you intend to do trackdays the std set up is better. I covered approx 10,000 miles in the first car before alfaworks worked their magic and During that time realized whilst it tramlined badly it was always within limits and learning to hold the wheel slightly looser and let it wander a little was a much more relaxed way of driving when cruising

Could I just ask, has anyone collected a 4C advertised at the £249/month price? If so, what was the initial rental on them? Thanks.

The Thames deals (£249) won't be delivered until December/January I believe?

The initial was around £2300

Thanks - so looks like they were factory orders on a 9+23 term. I guess the question is whether they'll be fulfilled now?

Do you live in Derby or did you collect one from Derby?

I was pleasantly surprised as from the reports I had read I was expecting it to be a lot louder than it is. I had even used the Bluetooth phone with the hood up and been told it sounds fine and they couldn't hear the exhaust!!

The tramlining does make me back off a bit at times but is only really an issue on poor road surfaces mainly country lanes.

Annoyingly I have managed to ground the nose turning right into a shop car parking area with a gentle slope. Anyone got any good ideas on how best to protect the underside of the nose (some kind of skid plate perhaps)?

Theres a small piece of rubbery plastic that hangs down below the front bumper about a foot back, that usually catches before the bumper so you must have just caught that , as for protecting it best I can advise is take anything your worried about at an angle, that way one wheel gets on it early & lifts the front , you could bond a very thin sheet of stainless on but if its a lease car not sure technically you can

I found that the drone was fine at 70 leptons and annoying at 80 leptons. The parps on the upshifts are filthy. The steering is twitchy on your average roads which makes it interesting in the heavy rain that we've had recently.

As for the grounding, as others have said there is a rubber strip in the middle of the bumper, this is what usually catches against bumps etc. It costs around £10 for a replacement strip. I was told by the manager at Chris Variava that they have replaced their several times.

Dealer sorted some dash rattles on mine eventually. Although I subsequently had a similar rattle which turned out to be the passenger footplate mounting screws just needed tightening - worth a check as it's a 2 minute job (vs. dismantling the dash lol)

You are both right about the key, gotten used to it now. I'll take a closer look at the dash and the footplate once the weather sorts itself out
