I had a call from the dealer I have placed my 2018 build slot deposit with earlier in the week.

They advised that they have secured 16 very high spec cars with immediate availability, 16k discount and with a 5k deposit it would be just sub £400 on PCH

I was pretty hacked off, even with such a big discount the offer was nowhere near the deal that first spiked my interest and I have told them I do not want / need a car until June 2018 onwards

Whilst they still hold my build slot deposit I have given up on any hope on they being able to offer anything like a sensible deal to me when the time comes

I've been following this thread with interest. Quite like the idea of one of these as a weekender.

I appreciate that the above figures aren't as good as the deal that never was, but a £16k discount on a say £60k optioned car with sub £400 monthlies after a £5k deposit sounds like a decent deal to me.

Was that on a coupe or a spider? Mileage? That offer is around £1000 more expensive than the anniversary spider deal and those cars are fully loaded with options. The only main option missing on them is the Akrapovic exhaust

I'm still hopeful for the Thames deal. Perhaps I'm being deluded but, if they thought they weren't going to materialize, why wouldn't they have rang trying to flog us a Giulia or something?

I got my spider from Variava but Beechdale is less than a mile from my house, there were about 5 or 6 4c's there when I dropped in on Saturday- 2 unsold in the show room about £18k discount!

I really am bemused/fascinated/confused by the deals on these.

Are they just not selling? And this is not meant as a snarky comment. I had an Elise for four years which I absolutely loved, and an Evora for three. If I had the space I would have one of these in a heartbeat.

Anyway, enjoy your cars - very jealous.

No they are not selling. The anniversary ones spoke about here are over a year old and only just finding first owners through cheap lease deals. Used ones are just sitting on the market and not moving also.

just goes to show spec isn't everything and tuning is still a black art.

I think spending another few k on quality suspension and upgrades might just do the trick. otherwise unresolved car compared to a lotus. buy for the carbon tub and brag about it at the pub.........tongue out

Well guys i picked up my 4C yesterday and i love it!

For all of you waiting on the Thames deal 2018 delivery they are still confident about delivering those cars but i'd recommend giving them a call every once in a while to see if they have any ready specced cars coming in and available for PCH.

First drive into work today (along the A40) and surprisingly returned 26MPG while it being stop start all the way.

Can't wait for Dynamic mode to become available!

Tackling a few speed bumps later today, any advice? (mixture of those split ones and the longer /--\ ones.

What an absolutely cracking little thing

Picking up Monday from Beechdale.

Just looking at the Reg Cert.

With this new additional rip off rate of vehicle tax does it mean that even if you SORN it after the first year you still pay ?

What dealer was that? Where are all these built cars coming from? Makes me think the Thames deal has little to no chance if stock cars keep popping up???

What are the chances of being able to get a new 4C around the 1st quarter of next year? I really want one as I just found out about the awesome deals on them but I was under the impression they were stopping production next year? Is that still the case?

I currently have a Clio 220 Trophy only had it a year so would be stupid to try get rid of it now due to negative equity on it at the moment.

Now talking to Mangoletsi about a 4C coupe with around 16k off! Which sounds amazing but feels too good to be true and here is why...

The cheapest 4C on the market is currently just under 40k (37.5). They won't go lower than 35k for the car, I offered this to test the water. This model is the lowest spec possible from 2014 (no carbon headlights etc) and has done 6,000 miles.

The dealer is offering me a car with an RRP of 63k for 45k... But used cars are for sale at the same spec level also want this same price (with a thousand miles or so).

I struggle to believe the lowest end of the 4C market will stay this high for much longer, cars are simply not selling. Which makes me think if I took a deal like this now, in 2 years time the market may have fallen through and I get screwed over because of it (ending up in huge negative equity).

Or is this a solid 'investment'? Thoughts?

Doesn't matter if the arse falls out of the market because you are just handing it back at the end of your hire lease. The risk is on the finance company.

The prices of the used ones are going to have to collapse at some point. They are being kept above the levels that the market is willing to buy at.

I think it's impossible to know. As far as I can see, the prices on a wide range of 1-3 year old cars I'm looking at seem to be holding up unusually well.

There are a lot of different vehicles where discounts and finance deals available mean that you can buy new cars at prices close to, or cheaper, than 1 year old versions of the same spec. The examples I've seen of this range from things like Ford Focus ST-3's available new for £21,700 on 0% finance as well as BMW 340i Shadow Editions available with £11,500 discounts on 2.9% PCP deals.

That being said, I'm 100% in agreement that prices of close to £40,000 for a 3-year old 4C are ridiculous. In the past, I've always worked on the basis of assuming a car will half in value every 3 years. Maybe it's a case of petrol holding value better in recent times whereas, in the past, it was always diesel that held most value (I'm not sure as I haven't been looking at anything on the diesel market).

All considered, I think anyone buying a 2014 4C for £35k+ could lose their shirt but those paying £45k for a brand new, highly specced, model with a £63k RRP should fare much better.

I test drove a 4c at mongoletsi about 2 months ago and they offered me their white 17 plate demo for £48/£49K. The same car is now on autotrader at £43.5K!! There are plenty of new and very nearly new cars for low £40's.

All the used cars I looked at 2 months ago, as the poster above states, are still for sale. Why would you pay £37500 or £39995 for a 2 or 3 year old car with 10K miles on it when you can have new for just a couple of grand more?

I think the main issue is that they sit in that middle ground between a Cayman or an Elise/Exige. There are better cars at similar money to do whatever you want it for. They need to be better or cheaper.

I still fancy one, but hope to pick one up for mid £20K's in a couple of years!

They are still rare so once production stops values will be no worse and probably better than many cars of that age
