The Alfa Romeo 4C lease thread

Engine is very easily tuneable (I got a massive torque increase in a 500 abarth which made a huge difference to how fast it felt on the road) and whilst I’m not saying this is directly comparable to a 4c in looks, pedigree, performance or desirability, it would stack up to a decent driving and ownership proposition at a relatively modest outlay.
With a remap the power, and the weight out of the box, aren’t a million miles part.
Probably a better proposition as a daily as well.
I cant see a remap taking it from 170 to just over 300 which is what you would need to get similar power / weight and if it did I can see clutches and transmissions failing so certainly something you wouldn't want to even attempt on a lease car. They really are very different cars anyway but agree the Abarth would make a better daily but Alfa never designed the 4C as a daily but with determination & planning it can be used as a daily With a remap the power, and the weight out of the box, aren’t a million miles part.

I drove the 4C on its first official 'daily' outing, my drive to work. It's 14 miles each way with a mixture of town and A roads with a nice 2 mile mountain stretch thrown in for good measure, with average speed of about 25mph (not ideal!). It was quite compliant in fairness, the auto box was a bit snatchy and seemed as if it wanted to hold on to gears longer than I would have chosen myself, but on the whole, i was impressed. There's a few speed bumps I had to negotiate but luckily they are in low speed areas, so I didn't have to rush over them, no scraping!
The best bit is the amount of people rubber necking to have a good look at the car, it doesn't half draw some attention! I'm already counting down the hours till my drive home!

For the commute try all weather mode, softens everything , no turbo in first 2 gears so sluggish but soft gear changes The best bit is the amount of people rubber necking to have a good look at the car, it doesn't half draw some attention! I'm already counting down the hours till my drive home!
Played around with the different drive selectors, all weather much better in stop start traffic. I'd only used auto up until today (lazy), but tried manual and loved it. Probably going to be my method of choice going forward. My dynamic mode has become active too, I've only done 250 miles, is that right?

I read its 250 Km but could be milesRe gear changing ( and you probably know this ) if you are in Auto you can still put in a manual change & it only does that one change, I often drive in auto but add downshifts if going down a hill in traffic, it will hold that lower gear until you touch the accelerator or manually change up again

Has anyone had cars ordered & del dates confirmed for the great deals, are the dealers hoping you slowly loose interest rather than admitting they haven't exactly been straight & honest. I appreciate its a provocative post but the thread just seems to be dragging on & on with no real conclusion or happy people posting they have delivery dates .

I have requested a return of my deposit from the dealer I placed a £1000 deposit with. I was subsequently offered a high spec car for immediate delivery but at figures way above the advertised deal. I have absolutely no faith in their ability to deliver a car to my timescale (May 2018) and anywhere near the advertised deal.
sales exec absolutely assured me the £1000 deposit was 100% returnable up to the point where a build slot was confirmed - which it has not.
I sent off a letter to them to this effect yesterday - recorded delivery of course - I hope a war of words does not ensue

I have confirmation that the orders been accepted in Italy and they are awaiting build dates which should be available next week.Has anyone had cars ordered & del dates confirmed for the great deals, are the dealers hoping you slowly loose interest rather than admitting they haven't exactly been straight & honest. I had the same update yesterday
Any idea what the standard build time is on a 4C? Guessing it’s not a quick one....
It's difficult for them to quote that - he told me a normal car takes about 12 weeks to arrive but couldn't commit to a date yet for these. I'm guessing it'll likely be late January.Any idea what the standard build time is on a 4C? Guessing it’s not a quick one....

just depends on waiting list and what the spec is I guess, and possibly they may only build Rhd in batches , really an open ended question. Only Alfa can answer and they communicate through the dept of smoke and mirrors as I'm sure the dealer will tell you at some point . My first 4c was being built only to find out it was just an error on the system, took a few more months to appear but that was in the early days. I guess it's the charm of Alfa . Worth the wait though as you will discover
Haha yes as expected then really! My current lease is up early December - I think I would be quite safe to ask for a 3 month extension!

I'm not sure but I don't think it's necessary to specifically ask for a 3 month extension. My Audi lease ends December too and I believe you can extend on a rolling month. I'm going to contact them telling them I need at least one and at most three - I'm expecting it to be fine as long as I can give at least 1 months notice before handback. My current lease is up early December - I think I would be quite safe to ask for a 3 month extension!

They have finally got back to me with a quote, yes no need to commit to a certain amount of time, just need to give 5 days notice up to 3 months total. The only problem is they want a daily rate - which works out at about £100 a month more than I’m paying now. I have never kept a lease longer, but always thought the 3 months carried on at the same rate - doesn’t appear to be the case with ALD as the finance providerMy Recorded Delivery letter to dealer requesting return of build slot deposit has gone unanswered so a second letter will be sent tomorrow giving them 7 working days to refund to my account or legal proceedings will commence - terrible customer service and I will never consider them for any future purchase
