Brera, 159SW. Dog friendly?
Discussion
Hello all,
I am now in need of a suitable new car to transport our Golden retriever. From research, it appears that the safest way to carry medium to large size dogs in cars is to have them secured by a harness on the rear seat. Therefore, the high tailgate lip on the Alfas need not be too much of a problem, or is it? The usual German estate cars have up to now been high on the shopping list, but the truth is I don't particularly care for any of them. Does anyone have any personal experiences they wish to share?

Our German Shepherd goes in the back of our SW. She lies down against the backs of the rear seats, so is not going anywhere unless the car cartwheels, in which case we've got more to worry about than flying dog.
The lip is high, but we've trained her to stick her front paws on the lip and we boost her up. Clearly she could do it on her own (she can clear a 5 bar gate), but when she gets old, the current routine will work perfectly,

We have a Basset, and a Brera. We have an estate for the dog, though she has been in the Brera a couple of times. Although she fits on the back seat with a harness, we struggle to get enough space between the front seat, with it tilted forward, and the back to let her clamber in. I would think you would struggle with a Brera.
A few weeks ago, somebody was asking a similar question about AM Vantage. My immediate reaction was that there was no chance you could fit a dog in the back of a Vantage. Several answers - with photos - proved me completely wrong, so I'd be surprised if it's that much of an issue fitting one in a Brera.
