Whilst complaining tonight that every time I get into the car I use at least a quarter of a tank of fuel. (well, it is a 4.4 litre)my wife questioned the fact that I NEED a car with such a big engine.

My wife generally is the opposite to me, and therefore has no interest in cars at all, but what she said next nearly made me drop my cup of tea.

"Mike, I really wish you hadn't sold that alfa estate thingy, I really liked that"

Well, bugger me, if she isn't talking about the 156 sportwagon. I liked that thing too. She even said she liked the red leather (as I did)
So, here's me hooning around in the beemer, which is fantastic but a little on the expensive side now thinking that maybe a little money saving is in order to defect back to a sportwagon.
Certainly one to think of as I was itching to get my hands on a jag xjr, but this will have to wait a few years I think.

She never ceases to amaze me that woman. So, anyone know of any sportwagons for sale (not selespeed though - far too complicated for me)....There are 8 on autotrader at around 6k, and anyone want a spanking BMW 540i.

I really would keep it if I could drive it without using so much petrol - my wife manages it.....

I'm not sure it's possible to drive a Sportwagon that economically - I used 3/4 of a tank driving the 200 miles to Carmarthenshire before Easter. Mind you I was playing a bit. And I never seemed to be in the right gear which meant I kept on changing down and revving to keep up. On the way back I tried hard to be in "cruise" mode and only used 1/2 a tank for the same journey - and I admit might have used a little less if I'd driven more sedately round the country lanes at either end of the journey.

Not if I have anything to do with it matey....But Sonia is on top whinge mode about money, moreso throwing it down the beemers neck. She did surprise me though. She can't normally remember cars, but did remember the alfa....

Got to admit, it's better than a passat diesel...That was her last request.

Don't knock it.
Better a 120bhp Alfa Romeo than a 150bhp ugly car.

What are 166's like then...I note they are very cheap for a lot of car...

Bit of a squinty front end, but they are tempting......Rick, any info?
