I'm very close to ditching the OEM head unit in my Alfa and replacing it with something better. Even a potato would be an improvement.

From what I can gather replacing the headunit isn't too tricky but you have to keep the abysmal Blue & Me system in place; if it's not detected by the CANBUS system it mucks up the odometer apparently.

if the Blue & Me box was removed can the system be coded to tell the car that Blue & Me isn't fitted any longer?

Why not just stuff it in some spare space to keep the ECU happy?

Is it a Giulietta, I think the Blue&Me box was removed from mine before purchase, I had the flashing odd-meter but local alfa guy with a laptop did some kind of re-sync and the flashing stopped.

If it's a G let me know where the box should be and I can check if mine has actually been removed or just doesn't work.

Everything else works fine on mine, just no Bluetooth, no windows button, no call options.

It's a 159. Good to know it can be coded out, thanks for that.

The headunit I have lined up has Apple Car Play and Bluetooth so I'm keen to avoid any Bluetooth clashes (if that even exists?) between the new and the old.

On the 159 you need to do a proxy alignment I think so the body computer is no longer looking for the blue and me. You can download the fiat multiecu scan software for free, but you need a license for the alignment feature..and a £12 cable from ebay.
