Alfa Spider S2 Veloce
Discussion
I bought one of these last year - a rolling project. It's a 1976 in white which was taken off the road in 82 to have the bodywork done and never recomissioned.
The good news is the bodywork is completely rot free which is always a good starting point
The chap I bought it off partially recommissioned the car and spent a lot on new parts but to be fair it has not been put together very well and needs a proper 'going over'. One or two parts are missing but my aim is to get it on the road and use it this summer to find out a bit more about it. It seems to be the basis of a very good car if I can stick with it and put the time in. Fortunately I have a good workshop and two post lift, and the ability to do it.
So far i've rebuilt the carbs, got the speedo working, got the fuel gauage working and fitted a new 123 distributor. The engine now runs and goes well.
I would like to get in touch with other owners who can guide me on various points as I'm new to Alfas. I've tried to joining one of the forums but found it impossible to register for some strange reason.
Ideally I would like to speak with an experienced owner and get a line of communication established to discuss various issues and technical queries.
Will post some pics later.
Cheers
Jon

..yeah Patterdales are wonderful little dogs. I wouldn't say the Lotus it is a tough as a pattie but it's terrier like in the way it's instinctive, focussed and seems to follow the road on its own. I've got a Welsh terrier and a Lakeland (KC version of a pattie I suppose) and they're great.
Yep that was me on the way down to Staveley and back up through the Lakes - you're Jack's son I'm guessing? ....still got the RS6, not seen it on Primsore Hill for a while!

I am, he did mention it a few times. Nice to actually see it!Jon
We moved from Wetheral to Rickerby and the RS6 subsequently sunk in the floods!
Now have a SL500 but with a 5 month old little girl, I'm contemplating something more family friendly...
Hi there Roony,
Snap
What did the handling kit comprise of?
The rear ARB drop links on mine look a bit mushy so will probably replace those. The trailing arm bushes look okay and the springs and dampers have just been replaced (Sachs gas dampers).
I intend to strip the rear suspension down and have the reaction trunnion and other parts powder coated. This will also allow me to shutz the rear underside before putting everything back.
The handling is not too shabby as it is but not in the same league as the Lotus - well it's different anyway much more laid back (in a nice way).
The gearbox has a mainshaft bearing whine so pulling that and taking it to Cloverleaf tranmissions which by a happy coincidence happens to be in my County
