Can anyone shed some light on trying to choose between these two? Considering one of these in the coming months but with both starting at the same RRP why would you choose one over the other or vice versa? I'm seemingly split in opinion.

The 695's performance is as follows:
Power 165 bhp
Top Speed 135 mph
0-60 mph 7.1 secs
Torque 230 Nm, 170 ft-lb
CO2 Emissions 139 g/km
Euro Emissions Standard 6
Miles Per Tank 361 miles

and the 595 Comp:
Power 180 bhp
Top Speed 140 mph
0-60 mph 6.5 secs
Torque 250 Nm, 184 ft-lb
CO2 Emissions 139 g/km
Euro Emissions Standard 6
Miles Per Tank 361 miles

So what does the 695 offer to justify the same price yet be slower? I'm assuming its some of the options as standard such as exhaust and carbon packs?

All opinons welcome

I thought this was going to be the silliest comparison ever from the title until I realised the "Yamaha" is also a version of Fiat 500 Abarth

that I had never heard of.

Carry on...coolsmile

I had to make the same decision a few months back, but in the end opted for the 595 180 competizione, because at the time, end of March, my local Abarth dealer was doing a good deal & couldn't wait.
I think the 695 Yamaha XSR has about £1800 of extras over the standard competizione, carbon dash, leather seats, supersport alloys, 7" touch screen with sat nav, akrapovic titanium exhaust (as fitted to the 695 Biposto) & red strip down the side on the front spoiler & rear diffuser, but doesn't have the Brembo brakes & Koni rear dampers as standard on the competizione.
I was very tempted to get the 695 & actually put an order in for one but opted for the competizione. You could easily remap it to 180 bhp. I think at the time the 695 was £20360 otr & the competizione with the extras was £22110 otr (without the akrapovic exhaust)

The only plus to the 695 is the Akrapovic exhaust, ignore the limited editions as every Abarth appears to be “limited edition” the latest riva edition comes with screws used in a riva boat rofl

The 595 is more power and can be specified with the carbon dash, and 7” touch screen.

Sadly though the LSD is no longer an option which is what I have fitted in mine.

Here’s the thread of mine: https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&... and happy to answer any questions.

I'm taking the limited edition part with a pinch of salt given you can still order a Biposto Record which is limited to 133 or something. So basically go for whichever I can get best deal on unless the exhaust is a deal breaker?

Do you have any more info on the LSD option? Is the performance pack no longer available? Do you think the LSD is worth it?
Thanks

The 695 is a big spec drop, no sabelts no Brembos, less power. The comp really is the one to go for.

The performance pack is no longer available, you can spec all the parts that came with the performance pack except the LSD.

Having driven one with and one without I couldn’t live without the LSD it really does help especially on a wet Autosolo in March! On track I was behind a matching car minus LSD and I was getting the benefit (as to be expected) through the corners.

You can buy a quaife aftermarket LSD for £600.

Thanks - wonder why they've done that?

It'll have to be a nearly new one then with it spec'd or an older one out of warranty and stick a quaife on.

Not sure I’ve only heard rumours suggesting it could be because a new shape 695 biposto coming along but how true that is I’m not sure.

Mine is a “demonstrator edition” (self titled by me, no official title) but basically if you find a red series 4 with performance pack, carbon seats, beats audio and 5” touchscreen then it was likely the dealer demonstrator. Some good deals to be had. However after buying mine a few months later a few 695 bipostos came on the market for the same price, slightly annoying!

I wouldn't be surprised if they had a bulk of LSDs leftover from the Biposto to use, Abarth have a tendency to utilise parts they have available. Was a good marketing to offer it at launch of the series 4, as the press took note of it.

In agreement about the Yamaha, basically a Turismo, with a few extras. Also its the free colour within the range so not exactly unique.

The look can be achieved in Competizione form, so I would go for that personally.

Proalfa are re-mapping these cars (larger Garrett turbo engines) to roughly 202bhp and 277ft-lb of torque..I hear this transforms the standard set up, especially the torque around 3000 rpm.. circa - £350..

According to the dealer I am speaking to the Performance Pack is still available and still has the LSD, someone I know has ordered a 595 Compezione this week with the PP and including the LSD - all a bit confusing

Seems like the XSR is out then! I went to a dealer and they can spec a performance pack but doesn't seem to be anywhere in writing about it anymore and simply instructed me that it would most likely be a factory order. My grave error was having a test drive in the Biposto.... head and heart suddenly have conflicting views :S

If there was a biposto at the right price when I purchased my car I would have gone for that. However after 10 months of ownership I can still say that every time I go to my car (even for the commute to work) I have a smile on my face knowing the journey will be entertaining.

The carbon dash on yours looks lovely... Was it difficult to source and fit?

Thanks G

I didn’t get the carbon dash. It wasn’t an option at the time I sourced a Maserati carbon dash but it wouldn’t fit the new model so trying to source the new carbon dash if the price is right.

As for fittment the dashes are quick to pop off.

+1 to the hearts opinion. I had a chance to take the Biposto Record out and almost couldn't contain myself when I first laid eyes on it, let alone hearing the the words "test drive..?". I'm 21, I'm sure sensible can wait a few years..... rolleyes now just to find the money to bridge the gap between a new Competizione and a delivery miles "new" Biposto.

As someone who extensively researched these cars before ending up with a Cooper S works 210 (Finance was better overall) I can say that the XSR will hold value better and it has nice touches like carbon dash and akrapovic exhaust which is lovely. It also has the 7" screen as standard. Things is doesn't have, from my knowledge, as there was not an amazing amount of info around march this year are: Brembo, options for LSD. It does however share the same Garrett 1446 turbo so could easily reach the 180 from the comp, also I think you can go around 220 on stock internals quite easily.

What may be worth considering though, is that all of the options the 695 xsr has are available on the comp, plus I know of at least one dealer who were willing to fit the Akrapovic to the 595 smile
