I spent a lot of time to spec mine to avoid extra tax ( 39,985 ) only to find DVLA take the list price at point of reg. There had been two increases during build banghead fortunately Alfa agreed to meet diff as long as I own vehicle but if I had known I would have just accepted and spec up a lot more.

Another issue was a battery warning light followed by start stop unavailable 20 mins after collection eek car has spent 5 days in total so far with no phone call today.

Some will be interested to know Courtesy car is a Jeep Cherokee and it has tyre skip too ! although not as severe as Giulia but that may well be due to front wheels being driven.

I’d agree that the cost of options makes a big difference to budgeting, depending on how the lease companies add them.

Unfortunately my wife chose a VW Arteon over a Guilia (which was my preference) based on the seating position (she’s a short ar$e and the seat went higher in the VW.)

However when trying to spec the cars like for like the difference in option costs was staggering.

No matter what the length of the lease the brokers I tried for the Alfa simply divided the option cost by lease term (so a 500 option was simply divided by 23 to provide a figure to be lumped onto the base cost- they soon mounted up and added over 100 to the monthly for some basic options such as metallic paint etc)

Contrast to going through a VW dealer direct, options added were broken down past the lease term and only added a few quid per month.

Consequently (and I appreciate I’m comparing apples with oranges to a degree) a like for like spec VW worked out quite a bit cheaper over the terms of the lease for what obstensibly was the same-ish list price to begin with.

I would have still had the Alfa mind!

I guess it’s true what they say about Alfas based on the above; I’ve certainly bought my Veloce with my heart and not my head. There was no budgeting involved, no other cars on the list. Leaving my current Giulietta QV PCP half way through when I’d set it up expecting to buy at the end of the term means I’ve thrown a LOT of money away, and I am by no means loaded. Can I justify £500 a month on the Veloce? No. Do we need more important things doing with the money? Yes. Was I going to leave the 19” wheels to save £40 a month on road tax? No!

I’ve now had my car for the grand total of 5 days and I’m absolutely loving it.

I test drove a number of cars including 3 series 335d xdrive, Jaguar Xe R-sport 250ps, Audi A4 tfsi Quattro, all of which were very impressive machines, but the Veloce was just more charismatic and fun to drive.

20k business miles per annum - it’s going to be a lot of fun.

This is great to read having spent the last 2.5 years in a 335d xdrive and thinking I'd never find a car that covered all bases as capably. Came across a bargain lease deal over Christmas which was on it's final day and made a snap decision - now got a Montecarlo blue Veloce coming in March biggrin

Still love mine.

Wheel skip is terrible when in full lock, but, I assume that is to do with steering geometry and the steering is great on the move, so not a bad trade off.

Does anyone know if you can turn off the traction control?

I understand you can’t turn it off, which is a shame as it does rather kill the hooligan element a bit.
I can see the reason, but given they allow you to turn it of on the QF you would think they would on the Veloce as long as you sign a a disclaimer or something.

Apart from that it’s a stunning chassis.

Reading this thread with huge interest! The Giulia QF is my absolute dream after somebody let me have a play with theirs at Ignition Festival in Glasgow but it's way outside what I want to spend on a car so I've been thinking about a Veloce but just didn't think it would live up to the Audis or the BMs but it seems it does! Will be running to my Alfa dealer to test one now I think

Having just spent last Friday afternoon and most of Saturday driving between BMW and Audi garages looking at various car options from A4's to BMW 3 & 4 series, Then Friday afternoon, I noticed a Giulia QV come flying past me, then realising there was an Alfa Romeo dealership a mere 10 minute trip from my house...Saturday afternoon I agreed to a 2 year lease deal on a Veloce. Was easily the best car I've driven over the past few weeks.

Pick up the keys in 2 weeks!

Received my new Guilia Veloce lease car earlier today. Leasing is something I'm still not sure I ‘believe’ in... but it was so cheap I almost couldn’t say no! It made so much more sense financially than buying so thought what the heck... let’s give it a try, if after the term I still don’t think leasing is for me, I can revert back to buying.

Anyway, so far I’m super impressed.

Good;
It feels quick - especially in dynamic mode. Very responsive and surprisingly agile and nimble for what is a saloon car. My most recent fast car was an RS4, the Alfa definitely isn’t as ‘ballistic’ as the Audi but it’s no slouch.
I like the simplicity of the interior... it is simple and perhaps a bit behind the likes of Merc and Audi but it’s ergonomic and intuitive, works for me.
The look - I think it looks great, especially among the sea of white and silver rep mobiles. I’m sure I’ve caught people turning their heads although maybe I’m just assuming it’s the Alfa they’re looking at....!
The driving position and steering wheel are great, feels very driver focused.

Bad;
The noise... very underwhelming. Even with the throttle pinned it doesn’t sound all that exciting.
Every time you arm or disarm the alarm you get an anti social chirp/beep... I’ve done some googling and apparently this can’t be turned off. Reminds me of the Clifford alarm on my old Escort RS Turbo.
The boot - small and a small/awkward opening. I can see this being an issue at times although I already suspected this after snooping around one on the showroom prior to ordering.

Looking good! Id suggest some mods to fix the sounds, but given that it's a lease, best not...

Looks lovely. They really are handsome cars. I also like the ‘Alfa Love’ on the roads too, I’ve had plenty people ask me about mine including a guy in a new RS4 estate follow me into Sainsbury’s petrol station to have discuss it! (Mine is only a lowly diesel too.....)

Agree with you on the alarm which is awful but I also found the standard wheels really underplayed the look too. I changed those however to European Veloce wheels.

Enjoy!

Lovely looking car.

Saw my first Veloce last weekend, actually parked up next to my car. It was solid red with the dark 5 pot alloys.

It's tempting me back towards an Alfa when I sell the Octavia next year, let's just hope the prices don't rise too much as I don't really want to push it above £40k.

Then again, in the grand scheme of things, is an extra £900 in tax over the three years I'll own it such a huge cost?

Hopefully the fabled 350bhp version will be available in Europe by then!

Veloce with metallic on a 3-35 basis and 15k a year.

About the best I could find at the time, ordered in September collected from the dealer end of November. The deals seemed to dry up shortly after and are only just coming back again.

Messaged you the details of my deal. The good deals seem to come and go, not sure what dictates a cheap deal coming about.

Message received, thank you! Seems a good deal, but my mileage would likely be more then double yours (closer to Velocemitch above, probably a bit more to be honest!)

ETA: with my mileage and the mileage penalties on leases, maybe its not the way to go!
