Does anyone else have one of these?
Discussion
This is my fathers Alfa Romeo 1987 GTV 3.0 V6 - it's had some slight mods to it when we got it but we hardly see any others about.
Does anyone in Pistonheads have a GTV, we partcularly interested in other 3.0 GTV owners with the same bodyshell, if you have, can you post your pics up it'll make him feel better.
Thanks!

Not me I'm afraid - something a little newer than that. Looks lovely, though

I used to own one. One of my favourite cars and the best exhaust note ever.
Unless your father has replaced the engine with one from an Alfa 75, I think you'll find it's actually a 2.5 litre.
Actually a number of 3.0l cars were manufactured in South Africa for homologation into touring car racing. I used to own one!

True, but they had a different bonnet bulge (ooh, er!)
Just had a chat to my Dad on the phone and told him about the site and the car IS A ALFA 75 conversion (pardon my shouting - my keyboard at home is on it's way out!)
Thanks for all the posts so far, are there anymore owners out there?? Particularly with 75 conversions??
Thanks for the sports post that car looked ace.

Howdy, I've owned a 75 Twin Spark 2.0 (sigh, she's gone now..) and have pulled apart my GTV6 for heavy de-rusting.
What can I say, that sound, it tears down city walls!
Anyhow, I'm looking into buying a house now so I'm afraid GTV6 will not be running anytime soon.
On the longer run, I am thinking about how I'll put it together though.
As it has no airco or servo, I'm wondering if I should go 'Lotus' and strip it from anything that doesn't make it faster or streetlegal, weld in a rollcage and put in a 164's 24V. I hear the engine mounts are different but it can be done. Maybe a compressor or a V6 turbo out of a 90's GTV would be a good idea (although a turbo adds weight..mmh)
Also, there used to be a competition version of the 75, called the Group A, also there were some Group B IMSA beasts. These have a different front suspesion as with the SZ.
Those are evil in the wet but pull 1,4g on dry tarmac.
Which as far as I know hasn't been equalled by a street car.
Anyhow, word from the wise : do not accelerate on loose gravel and do not nail the throttle when exiting a wet roundabout with worn out shocks.
You probably already found this site, but just to be sure : www.alfagtv6.com/

lol I had a test drive in a GTV6 (didn't buy it) - having just read an Autocar report which criticised the handling for excessive understeer, as the rear was unmoveable, I hoofed it in third exiting a damp roundabout. Result - back end definitely not unmoveable, accompanying salesman turned green!
