If you press the button on the end of the wiper stalk it scrolls through different trip options.

Much easier to just change the screen using the supplied button old boy.

Ah yes but on certain cars that have a change up icon every 3 seconds that catches your eye!

On a V70 D5 I couldn't turn that and a eco bar off.

I've just discovered this thread which has been a great source of information.

I have £12-13k to play with, which seems reasonable for a 2017/18-ish 'regular' 595 on fairly low miles, or a pre-facelift Comp. Having looked at a few I think I'd rather forgo the specialness of a Comp and stick with a newer 595, particularly so as the late 2016 face lift has a nicer interior (it'll be my daily, but I only do 9k ish per year). Any thoughts? Is there an easy way to introduce Andoid Auto etc into the pre-screen model?

Quite a few I've seen with the 17" silver 10 spoke wheels seem to be flaking badly even at just 3-4 years old, the 16" 7 spokes seem to hold up much better.

The only thing I'm a little on the fence about is how I'll get on with significantly less interior space than my current Citigo (which is tardis like), we do the occasional 2hr run and I'm not sure how my 7 year old and wife will get on with that, she's only 5ft 5" and would sit in the back (son in car seat up front) so hopefully it'll be fine!

Why wouldn’t you chuck the kid in the back?

He gets car sick over about 7 miles! Moved him to the front a year ago and it's made a huge difference, can go a couple of hours now without too many issues.

I think you’d start to get complaints from the other half then for anything over 20-30min.

Raise the headrest in the back. It makes it comfortable.

My wife is 5ft3/son 5ft2 (11). They fight for the front seat but both are happy to sit in the back for 2hours.

I noticed a comment earlier on this topic that driving a 595 is like being slapped in the face and shouted.

My complaint is the opposite, I can't hear the turbo spooling up enough and it's too quiet inside.

Yesterday I took a 3 lane crest right bend I'm a 40mph limit going wide then cutting across the crest. It was fantastic!

Interesting line in here..which begs the question if the mechanism can't be repaired it means the seat is replaced ergo if you did fit the lowering kit and it was a coincidental failure you'll end up footing the bill for a new seat yourself?..

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Abarth-595-695-Competiz...

ATTENTION: the return mechanism of the Sabelt folding seat tends to fail by itself, and is usually repaired under warranty in the official Abarth workshops, not always with success. It may be that by fitting the brackets, then the mechanism no longer works well and needs to be repaired. Unfortunately, the installation of the brackets can accelerate the decay of this already fragile mechanism. We do not accept returns or complaints for a defective mechanism after installation, because it is not possible to establish whether the defect had not already been present or near before

I don’t see how it can have an impact. The sabelts mechanism can be fixed but it’s a few hundred.

27k service yesterday at Glynne Hopkin St Albans - great service from them. £180 which wasn’t bad - had a little 500 hybrid as a courtesy car - horrible thing!

a clean bill of health but the video inspection showed the front tyres are on the way out. Something to sort next week.

Yeah. I know. fk kittens!

I’m in a bit of a quandary - I’ve been thinking about selling for a year. Thought I’d pop my v8 cherry but now thinking that with the petrol prices going the way they are…

That’s what I did. Swapped the Competizione for an SLK55, ready for another Euro trip in 2020… rescheduled to 2021… aaaannnndddd…

It’s still not happened…

Now looks like I need to make space on the drive for a cheap, low powered manual car for my son to learn to drive in (we have three autos) so I suspect it will have to go

Your move over along with Juice’s car are the reasons I’d pretty much decided to go with a 55.
