Website has been updated today https://www.abarthcars.co.uk/abarth-595-competizio... Configurator is still the same.

Still no info from my dealer about a build week for my car. I put a call into the Abarth customer relations team in Turin who said they would try and get an update for me.

So... been toying with the idea and noticed that the local Europcar had a couple outside.

Popped in to see how much to hire - they’re a premium car apparently.
Nice guy in there told me to go onto their website, book a Fiat 500 and then he could upgrade me.

Long story short, I’ve ended up with this until next Tuesday:

18 plate, sabelts, unlimited mileage.

All for £80.
I’ve only spent 20 mins in it and it’s hilarious!
Vastly different power delivery than the M3.
I have some serious driving to plan this weekend.

I have spoken to these guys, they are really good and were really useful when I had trouble working out what was going on!

Dealer has said my car is status 16 which is leaving the factory but this conflicts with what the stages say on https://www.fiatforum.com/lets-talk-fiat/146711-fi...

I called the customer service team and they have confirmed build next week.

Either way its moving forward.

24 hours and 250 miles in.

It’s a terrific little thing. Driving at below 10mph is addictive with the windows down!

It’s nice to be back in a turbo car - it’s been 8 years since I had an Impreza and the power delivery is nicely familiar.

I took it out of sport for about 5 mins but there really seems no point. The front end can be a bit skittish but all in all I’m impressed.

The sabelts are lovely to look at but they’re not doing my back much good - I don’t think any of the other seat options “fit” with the look though so that will take some thought.

I have happily wafted through Europe in the m3 with no issues at all and proper comfort - I don’t think I could do the same in the comp.

I love it.
I’m just not 100% convinced just yet.

2 days till I give it back so we will see.

It takes a little while to get used to the sabelts and in addition they take a little while to bed in, I guess that car hadn't done much mileage? I presume you realise that the foam is made of bubbles, what happens is that over the initial use period a proportion of the bubbles pop meaning that the foam softens slightly. I found with mine (bought with 491 miles on the clock) that it's only just bedded in nicely at over 3k although I got used to it slightly quicker. (Can you tell that I used to sell sofas :-) )

This is true but when you don't quite fit you don't quite fit.

Wife decided to go for the leather seats (in my mind a down grade) which in hindsight considering we were just squeezing into the demo carbons (which we loved the look of) was the right choice for us. Slightly wider, yes considering she then had everything else why not but she wouldn't be as comfortable and may ended up regretting the car purchase.

Cheers guys - the car has less than a thousand miles on so there must be some softening still to go. Long motorway drive today so we will see.

So doing a bit of reading now I’m home (it’s quite noisy in the cabin at motorway speeds) - not many dealers have used cars in stock (4th gen).

Spoke to someone at a dealer in Slough which is apparently owned by fiat/Abarth rather than a franchise and they said they have some stock - on asking what stock, they have 2. Not much choice there.
They were keen to push finance - they’ve got a free paint upgrade and £500 contribution as offers until the end of the month.
We talked figures and I’m struggling to get my head round financing one.
The car in the spec I want comes to just over £23k.
If I put £10k down, it’s £159 a month for 48 months. Then I still have to pay £8.5k at the end.
The APR is 6.7%.

I don’t mind paying monthly for something but after a big deposit, 4 years of payments, to still owe over 8 grand seems silly.
I’ve never financed a car before so maybe I’m missing something?

We bought ours from Slough early part of this year and found they had quite alot in stock but going on their website your right in that they only have a handful of comps (still have the Rivals in... But that's quite low spec imo)

I certainly found Abb who sold me ours very good to deal with and was worth the couple hours journey from Portsmouth (Aldershot dealer was useless and Southampton didn't pick up the phone.)

I’ve had my 180 PP Comp for a year last Monday. Done 4500 miles.

It’s great fun as a daily. Docile in normal mode but bonkers in Sport (which is where I leave it).

The Sabelts are fantastic. Great on 200 mile M way trips too.

I’ve had two issues with mine. One was a software update on the 7” nav to cure the temperature/contrast problem & the other was the common Monza valve sticking.

Cured that myself & wired it open smile

Hi Dan,

Hope you are well, great news your car has finally been built and is set to be shipped to the UK. I'll call you when it gets to the UK and take things from there. We are expecting you to be in the car still by the end of September or possibly the first few days of October.

Controversial but I love it. I am looking at these for my next car, I am thinking I need to get one in this colour! (I know many won't like it but hey cars are all about personal preference)

Great news, I also go the same thing but not quite as well put.

The status of your car has been updated, so this may arrive for registration in September. I’ll keep you posted.
I have to tease the information out of him which is a bit annoying but he's only been in the car game since early this year.

Its different to what the customer service team said though as they noted it isn't scheduled for build until the latter part of the week. I will wait and see.
