I forgot about the glut of lease cars due! Quick peruse of the leasing thread on here suggests people were taking delivery between July-Nov 2017, so we'll start seeing loads of black, cloth-spec cars arriving in about 12 months wink

I also agree, I rarely test drive any cars, it just doesn't give me any indication. I need a few weeks in a car before I can decide if it's for me - once the honeymoon period has worn off, then I can decide if its a keeper. Thankfully, there's only been one car I disliked (S1 Exige) and I still kept that 6 months to see if it would grow on me!

So I'm just going to take a punt....but as a massive Lotus fan, the Evora/Exige option still nags at me.

I believe a lot on the cheap lease deals were basic basic spec so will be cheaper , at the end including lease cars there aren’t actually that many in the uk so I can’t see prices plummeting.
Mine is a 50th Anniversary Spider with full leather, sports exhaust, race suspension and loads of carbon fibre bits. It's a lease car.

Brave man taking on the race suspension. I was told to avoid unless I intended to track it.

How is the suspension, is it very hard? On the anniversary does it come with parts not available on the standard car?

It is definitely very hard - I've never driven a 4C without it, so I can't compare. I quite like it, but over potholes I do sometimes worry that I've cracked the tub. I've just changed the rear tyres from the Pirelli racing tyres to PS4S, maybe this will make a difference.

I think there might be a couple of bits of the anniversary that aren't available on the standard car - some carbon fibre trim pieces I think. Nothing that makes a real difference.

As I posted earlier on this thread I think the real deal-breaker on a 4C Spider is the stitched leather dashboard. I also don't like the insect eye lights, but I suspect I could live with them as you don't see them when you're sitting in the car. My car has full leather seats, but I would prefer the mixed with microfibre.

Thank you for this, I believe the change of tyres makes a big difference in handling. Was it expensive to swap?

The Pirellis were worn to 2mm - so it wasn't really a matter of choice. 2 * PS4S were £350 total

I don't see the point really... It is what it is, it will either be really good, or have 'character'.

I've owned and therefore driven heaps of stuff such as classic Porsches, stuff from the 60's, Astons, Hot hatches, Pickup trucks, modern stuff... you name it.

As long as it looks cool (It does) and makes loud noises (I will make it louder if it isn't already) then I will probably be very pleased with it as a new toy.

First Alfa ever though... Apparently everyone has to have an Alfa at some point??
With you , I ordered my first 4c 3.5 years before I took delivery , so good I bought another and no regretted it, you had best get one bought soon

Regarding cars hanging around on the market for a long time; whenever i've looked on AT there have been in excess of 40 cars for sale. I've just had a look after reading this thread and there's less than 30. There must be some moment or do people think that the sellers have just given up? As with any car of this type, most market activity is going to be within the warmer months.

Only 27 listings now, and 1 is sold and the 3 are for new cars. Grab one before they're gone! wink

I think they have found a price whereby they are an appealing option. They are an exotic car for mid 40K. The one that I bought was never even advertised. As always i had a bit of budget creep, and it should be with me this week. Compezione red spider, really quite excited.

Nice work! And in the best colour too lick
You won't regret it. They really are very special, especially at this price point. Get some pictures posted up when it arrives.

They really are a bargain for money. So special I let me Giulia Quad go and kept my 4C Spider.

If anyone needs any advice, I'm happy to provide as I know them pretty much like the back of my hand now having bought and sold a few. I've got a real soft spot for them.

As someone said above. Don't let milage put you off. As long as its been locked after and the sills haven't been scuffed to bits etc.

My Spider has 10K as of yesterday. Hasn't missed a beat apart from during its last service the tech picked up a rattle from the exhaust so they are replacing the flexi section under warranty.

Can you shed any light on main dealers approach to very low miles cars at yr1 and bolt tightening service? Are some pragmatic and price accordingly or do they stick to a set price to tighten all bolts regardless? So far we main dealer spread from £650 - £1,100 for the same service!

Dealers should complete the full service , bolts work loose over time, it’s not just mileage related , if they skimp it’s nit good

Im toying with the idea of needing a Spider for next summer I think...besides at the current rate, the coupe will have 40,000 miles on her by then!

Blimey ,further up the thread 16K miles was described as high on a 4yo car.

Buy a driver's car but don't drive it too much.....confused

Each dealer should follow the service schedule regardless of mileage. But some dealers think they know better. I had my bolt service performed before I collected the car when it had 1500 Miles. Even over 1 year and only 1500 miles bolts can loosen off.

My second service was £801 on my Spider. They picked up on a rattle (Which I didn't know about) from the exhaust flexi so they are replacing that for me free of charge. The part was around £400 and its an hours labour.

I'll probably sell mine next year. Quite a rare car in Madreperla with Tan leather. Lots of extras. £72k list!

Yes but only an idiot would pay 72k at list. I paid 44k brand new for my coupe and it was loaded to the gills.

Mine currently has 20000 miles on her after 10months, so ill have to do something.

Be a cold day in hell before it’s a Miami Vice white car though 😛

Wow that's impressive. How's it been reliability wise? are you running factory set up or have you gone the Alfaworks geo route? I'm of a view mine doesn't need it.
