Alfa 147 1.9 JTD misfire
Discussion
I have a new (now 9k mls) 1.9 16v turbodiesel Alfa 147. Over the last few thousand miles, I've noticed an occasional hiccup, which is steadily worsening. It happens at 2 - 2,500 rpm under gentle or moderate acceleration. Most noticeable in second gear - just a half-second hiccup. Under hard accelaration it's not there. Any ideas? If it was a petrol engine, I'd swear it was a coil breaking down or a similar ignition fault, but it don't have no ignition, so what is it? Sticky valve-timing variator is my only thought so far.
99% certain it doesn't have a variator.
On my JTD it turned out to be the slightest of leaks on the pipe work to the AFM. Eventually solved by all new jubilee clips on all the hose work. It could also be the slightest of airleaks on the fuel filter although that caused bad starting on mine as well.
