P.S. NO Alfa is a "good buy" lol

ask me how I know wink

but thats not a reason not to own one coolcool
Recently read an article saying how the myth of German cars being more reliable is just that, a myth. And how Audi for example is not really more reliable than Alfa Romeo and how Audi ended up being the second least reliable brand in the UK. The article ended by saying if you want reliability buy Lexus, Toyota, Hyundai etc. But German is not the answer.

Also have a mechanic friend who had a 6 months stint at an Audi VW dealership and said after that he will never own a VAG car. The problems coming in to be sorted under warranty put any Italian unreliability stories to shame.

So I feel the German reliability myth and the Italian unreliability myth are both exaggerated. At least you seem to have owned an Alfa. But most people who bang on the myth have never owned one and just have a brother, cousin, uncle or friend who owned one and had horror stories.

I'm sure it's not as reliable as a Toyota but then again neither is VW, BMW, Mercedes or Porsche.

Talking about modern Alfas here, starting with cars of the GTV era and on. The GTV seem to have been a leap for Alfa with the car being fully galvanized etc. The newer the Alfa the better it seems. I have been doing a lot of research and speaking to people who have owned them as I have finally decided to buy my first Alfa after years of wanting one. It will probably be a GTV too.

I have a friend who had a 147 and said in 2 years of ownership he had zero problems. Sold it because he got kids. And I know people with horror stories about Passats and all sorts of Audis.

Mini 'meet' on the horizon!
I’m in Chalfont St Giles. We should organise a cars and coffee meet on a Sunday morning in January? Does anyone know if there is one regularly near us? Just gave her a clean and top up of oil this morning. HNY!
