Just sold my 67 Plate QF, Saber took it off me, kudos to the guy and the way Research handled the sale (paid off finance etc). I was in equity, I was impressed.

My reason for selling? Had it 3 years and was starting to get bored of it, the buzz of the power wore off, I started to realise I just couldn't use the power on our roads what with the speeds limits in place now. It was frustrating to have all that power and not get best the use of it. Just no point, a Veloce TI would be a better and cheaper alternative, albeit without the amazing exhaust note.

And like others have said, I had horrendous experience with 3 different dealers, I am kind of lucky as I travel a lot with work so have always been able to try different dealers. Mine had the alarm sensor module replaced, 3 trips to a dealer to fix the turbo hose connector issue causing EML, and I had both rear anti roll bar drop links replaced.

It had done 36k. Which was my main decision to sell. I just couldn't trust any Alfa dealer to replace the serpentine belt (£1500), the front end has to come off. I nearly took it to NJS for that work but it was a 2.5 hour drive from mine, and that would be me passing at least 3 Alfa dealers. Shame really, it is an amazing car, really really amazing but the after sales and the chance of something major going wrong just put me off wanting to buy it outright and keep it. Just to add, I don't have any experience of research after sales so I'd rule them out as they do seem to be the best out there.

If anybody is looking, it's the 67 plate MC Blue at Research now. Running perfect now, has the AHM exhaust valve mod as well.

I echo your comments on the 'buzz' wearing off and will probably sell mine.

I use Alfa Aid and have had no issues getting proper servicing and a couple of items under warranty. AA have a good relationship with Thames the local main dealer. The alarm sensor module was replaced and the factory drain mod for the ECU was carried out efficiently and effectively. Maybe it helps that Alfa UK are headquartered just down the road. smile

Interesting comments about the buzz wearing off. Do you think this is just through familiarity with a given car? Completely understand the desire to have something different but personally would struggle to replace the overall QF package at the price point and with a single car

Totally agree that its an amazing car on every level, particularly for the price. Maybe, in my case, its the thrill gone with familiarity I can't say for sure. Equally I have no idea what it could be replaced with, luckily its hardly a chore to continue with it. smilesmilesmile

Just got mine, and planning to keep it for 3 years, so plenty of time for the novelty to wear off yet!

The only thing I wish it did was above 30mpg when driven carefully on the motorway!

Still, it's only done 600 miles so far. Incredible to drive though.

I'm actually driving around in a 63 plate Fiat 500 now after my QF, just bought it for my Daughter who's learning to drive. It's a right blast, I think what I proved to myself is that I get bored after a few years with cars. And my Mrs hated me booting the QF, it was a no win situation.

BUT... the dealers killed it for me, imagine trying a warranty claim on an engine rebuild with a dealer you can't even trust to do an oil change.

Same as every car - power soon becomes usual.

I'm three years/38,000 miles in and starting to plan its replacement. I'm not even going to try and actually replace it, I'll go for something totally different. Either a powerful large SUV or something with electric propulsion.

I'm still buzzing about mine 3.5 years on, so much infact that it seems likely that at 5 years I go for another, perhaps one in the nice looking new green colour with an Akrothingy exhaust and a few other extras.

The last I heard from my dealership, the 'classic' colours may not be coming to the UK at all, and if they are it certainly won't be until sometime in 2021.

For anyone who doesn’t know there are some Alfa approved service centres who can do all servicing , repairs and anything under warranty but who do not sell cars. I’ve used HWM in Walton on Thames for my 4c and always found them faultless.

This link from Alfa allows you to search for all places . Make sure you select aftersales and not sales. https://www.alfaromeo.co.uk/retailers

Also, ring around. Prices vary hugely.

I'm about to have my 36,000 service (although tempted to go Indi as I'm out of warranty).....ARUK official sites vary from £1,200 to £1,600 for the same service.

Are you aware of the Mopar service pack that costs circa £500 and pays for that service??

I just checked my receipt, £499 for three scheduled services.

And what was my first scheduled service (after my old service pack ran out), it was the big 36,000 mile one.

Sounds too good to be true but that's exactly what I did, saved me loads!

Something to get before they cotton on smile

When was that? I looked but it only had the prepay oil service option.

Thanks!

Thought you got it serviced a few weeks back up Liverpool way?

That was a turbo bypass valve connection recall. This is the standard 36k service.

Resurrection.... Just to day after 4 dealers denied all knowledge of it, I've just bought the service pack. £499 and it immediately covers the 36k service booked in for next week that would have cost £1265! The dealer's warranty 'girl' even highlighted it was incredible value.

Thanks Gus!! It took some work, but you've just saved me £765!! I'm now SO tempted to take it to the bds at Mangoletsi who wanted to charge £1700 for the service, and not tell them until I collect the car.

She did say that the cost of the service pack was due to go up this month, so anyone with a 3yr old car that needs one, get it quick!!

Any thoughts on what you are going to change the QV for?
