I test drove a QV yesterday and noticed the brakes were less problematic than reported by reviewers of early cars. Also the suspension in Race was not that bad compared to my Mk3 Focus RS. So perhaps AR have tweaked the QV over time.
I have an early 2017 car and have no issues with the brakes. I just think reviewers had to find fault with something and as brake by wire is fairly new that was mentioned. Once one person did then everyone jumped on the band wagon.
Exactly that. Brakes (and suspension) hasn't changed, journalists (without with Germanic agenda) just liked to pick fault with the car...almost as I've they'd decided it was going to be inferior before driving the car, then had to find reasons for it.

Well, I've only gone a bloody done it!

Got a deal I was happy with and have terminated my old contract so I get my Tri-coat red, QV Tuesday week.................I now just hope you lot were right and it does not let me down, but that aside I am so excited to finally get it on order,

In reference to someone doubting the additional injector, this is in fact true for 2019 models. Apparently the one large injector was giving some low rev lumpy running issues, so they have now added a smaller injector for this, I understand it also assists with fuel economy to. However it may not pop and bang like some of you say it does.

Thanks once again to all for the views, and will keep this topic running with updates!

FYI they have updated the breaks, apparently they were not quite right at low speeds, so they have reconfigured to negate this. This is the beauty of a fly by wire system, they can easily update it bases of feed back.

If an AR dealer said it, it MUST be true!

My dealer told me that they have changed the engine spec this year to a 1.2 twin air boosted by an updated version of the Rover/BRM Gas Turbine engine that only runs on a 40/60 mix of bilberry juice and vodka.

this has been a really nice, helpful conversation up until now so, thanks for bring it down to basic level piss taking! only a bell-end would say you can run a gas turbine on vodka, when we ALL know its jack Daniels.....

Congratulations! Does this mean you now have it?! And if so, what are your first thoughts?
Also - can you give an indication on the deal you got? Feel free to PM if easier. Many thanks

After they lost it for 2 days (don’t even ask!) I have been a proud owner (well technically renter) of the Qv for exactly a week.
First impressions are: absolutely awesome drive really love it, it is so quick I’ve got mates with other very fast cars and this one just stands out. Plus as this is my daily car the normal mode is just a lovely well done and well balanced, low noise great daily driver seats are best I’ve ever been in.

Negatives, well very small.. been trying not to press the fun button too much but even on some relatively long runs in eco mode I’m only going to get around 26 miles to the gallon I hoped for more like 30 something (what are others getting? ) and I do realise I hadn’t bought the car for its economic sense smile

Also and as I suspected not been able to have the full boar noisy exhaust unless you turn all the safety equipment off is a mistake by alfa! The car sounds amazing with the exhaust fully open even if it’s just around town being a bit of a boy racer at low speeds at relatively low revs, so I’m gonna have to look into this remote option so I can control the exhaust in any of the mode.

All in all I’m very happy alfa Romeo driver

I've got the AHM exhaust mod, I had it fitted 3 weeks after ownership. It's brilliant. I don't even both sticking it in Race anymore, just leave it in Dynamic and go....

And in this cold weather the valves absolutely love it, pops and bangs very random, sometimes f-in loud like a gun going off. I also find Shell VPower offers more bangs vs Tesco Momentum.

I've changed Corsa's to MPS4S and up sized 255 & 295 front & rear, massive improvement over the restrictions of the corsa's IMO.
Hi, very interested in the exhaust mod. Did you talk to the dealer about warranty’s or just get on with it?
Also not your view on the tyres. Do you run through the winter on these ? Do the mps4s get over the crabbing at full lock, and how does the wider tyres look on the wheel? Picture please 😊

Awesome! Yes - the exhaust needing everything off sucks, but how does the car feel when pressing on without the safety nets? Bit of an animal? Or fine unless provoked?

I think 26 mpg is pretty good. On a long run in my S4 I will be lucky to see low 30's, and that's a pretty standard 350bhp V6. You're carrying a much more special engine as well as 155bhp more!

If you can share the figures you're paying I'd really appreciate it so I can understand how much of a jump I need to make from my S4, but for now I think its substantial. Sounds worth it though! smile

23 average (with many very short journeys) and 30 mpg + on a long run if for once going steady is what I get.

As regards the "All off", It feels great on dry road with warm tyres, I track day a Caterham so used to that all off feel. But I am conscious of 510bhp to rear wheels and don't wish to be "that guy" that kerbed or worse his brand new car. I pushed it to break out and it does feel very controllable, but would like to do a drift day or get it off the public roads to explore this. I don't want to do a full on track day, so may be need to find an empty car park and have some fun. its just so capable that your 20-40 mph faster than everything else on the roads. without being anywhere near the limits.

My Jag XEs was 325BHP and could get 38mpg on a good run, and the QV recons 34 combined, I would like to know if anyone is actually getting that. I have some very long motor ways on Tuesday so will get a better Idea after that.

Feel free to PM me and can discuss monies
