Also thinking suv what’s the view on the Macan ? Not sure why this appeals, need to get a ride in one when show rooms open I think .
I’ve had a 2019 Macan S from new, neither the wife or I have fallen in love with it as a drivers car, it’s just lacking something. It always puts a smile on your face when you look at it, sit in it, do a big family trip fully loaded, but as a drivers car..... nope. I’d suggest a test drive in either the GTS or turbo as the S is lacking something. I’m now seriously looking to get a proper drivers car as a 2nd car, short list is 718 GT4 (deposit paid, but not guaranteed), a 2020 quadrifoglio or a 991.2 GTS but that is starting to get perhaps too spendy...... we’ll see how the world goes over the next few months!
Thanks for feed back, my wifs car is a x6 4.0, and got enough grunt to put a smile on ya face , but also lacks something, plus the seats are uncomfortable IMO . The other brand I know very little about is Maserati.

Anyone every owned a new-ish one , what are they like?

Slight thread hijack...

I'm picking up a 2018 Quadrifoglio in the next two weeks. It'll be the first rwd car I've owned and i've never had anything turbo'd nor anything over 360bhp before.

What should I expect / look out for / be aware of? From what I can make out the fuel consumption is on a par with my current 3.2 V6 so I'm prepared for that.
You can expect to enjoy it. In both standard and dynamic it will look after you whatever you through at it traction wise. But NEVER feed it after midnight or go in to race mode in the wet. Get some MPS4 ‘s on it ASAP and the you will be fine. Oh and on a an empty road or car park turn it all off and get it side ways 👍👍

For anyone who doesn’t know there are some Alfa approved service centres who can do all servicing , repairs and anything under warranty but who do not sell cars. I’ve used HWM in Walton on Thames for my 4c and always found them faultless.

This link from Alfa allows you to search for all places . Make sure you select aftersales and not sales. https://www.alfaromeo.co.uk/retailers
Thanks Stuart, that is a fantastic tip-off and gives me the confidence to seriously consider a Quad knowing there are alternatives outside of the mostly derided AUC network. I wish Alfa would hurry up and update the configurator with the MY21 spec and colours, I am keen to know if the heritage green will be available for order.

And YES agreed ... get the AMH mod, it makes such a difference .

The AMH mod looks like an easy decision at only £300. However, I thought the valves were open all the time in D and Race for MY20/21? If that's the case I am happy with that.
mines a 2019 so only open in Race, but I understood they changed this and agree if you get it in Dynamic as well, then I would leave it.

Hi All,

In terms of reliability I picked up my 2017 Quad last Saturday and 1hr later it threw a CEL it’s since been into a reputable garage and they discovered no less than 3 issues. (Active aero fault that appears to be a failed motor, and wastegate fault that’s not the solenoid with no solution or cause found yet, and a squeaking belt)

My question to those of you who have experienced issues with these cars is should I keep it or hand it back.

Currently the car dealer I brought it from is footing the bill for all these issues, but I’m concerned that it may be a never ending list of issues for months to come. And that the car has potentially had a harder life than I previously anticipated.

I would welcome all opinions and comments.
It’s always a tough one, at this early stage you could hand back the keys I get that. All I can tell you is the active front splitter motor is a common fault but easily fixed. I had to have mine replaced on my 2019, after about a year. IMO That shouldn’t be something that would massively concern me, the rest I’m less sure of.

Hi, I’m in the originator of this thread when I was interested in the q.v. Ive owned my competition red one now for 2 1/2 years. It has left me at the side of the road three times, with a 10 to 15 day wait For parts from Italy and had a period of 2 months where I didn’t even see it . It’s my daily driver and I live a busy business life, and while it’s the best saloon out there I don’t feel it’s got the reliability/
Infrastructure and support that I need.
So I’m going to write in more detail the highs and low ‘s once mine had goes, but for now this is my summery .

It’s the best car you should never own.

I’ve just put the deposit down on the new Macan, I have other fast cars now and need a reliable daily to run my business.

Sorry for the negative response, but I think I’m
still pleased I’ve owned one……tbc

Yes I sit On the fence brand wise, I love having something that is non-standard and getting thumbs up as I drive-by. But I hate feeling anxious driving my car when I need reliability for meetings. If it was a weekend fun car that matters less, but there is much more obvious weekend cars then a four door saloon .

If you get one you will fall in love with it, it really is an amazing car. Like I say I’m pleased I’ve done it, but I’m not sure I’d ever do it again.

Hi guys, I’m seriously considering buying a fairly new Gulia QV. Maybe 2022 model or a brand new face lifted one if I can get my hands on one fairly quickly.

How has everyone on here been getting on with theirs in regards to reliability? I’ve never owned an Alfa before and there seems to be so many scary stories about them….I had considered a 911 (but not enough room in the back to fit the kids in), I’d considered the new G87 M2 (but not a fan of its boxy shape) and also the G80 M3 (but hate the front nostrils). The Gulia QV Is definitely the sexiest of my potential options BUT extremely fearful of the reliability and dealership aftercare.

Does Alfa still offer the extended 5 year warranty on the QV???

Also which colour would one recommend? I want something that pops and feels special, currently considering either Etna Red or Verde Green?? Opinions please! And also which options would you guys recommend on this car??
I started this thread 5 years ish back as asked the same question. In a nutshell, I would never do it again, my new quadrifoglio left me by the side of the road three times and I never saw it again after a turbo failure four months before my three years was up. When it worked, it was the best saloon I’ve ever driven.
But as a daily car needing to be reliable, I did not found this to be the case.
In summary, it’s the best saloon car, you should never own!

May I ask, what did you change into instead?
Porsche Macan S , that now tows track day cars . Change of approach and is an amazing all year round versatile vehicle…but no where near as much fun.
