Alfa Gtv upgrade

Have a gtv 2.0 at the moment but keep thinking about the 3.0 V6.
Is the extra cost ie almost twice as much to buy,higher fuel use and the stupidly high insurance grouping worth the Extra performance in the realworld of never really going above 100mph in this country.
I tend to drive b roads fast and hard and this is my second car not my main transport.
Lastly i know people will say about the sound of the V6 but i think the Twin spark sounds great anyway and a mate of mine prefers my engine noise to his 156 V6.
So your thought plse if anyone out there has sampled both cars,or indeed 156 owners that have had T sparks or V6 power.
