Swap 170 multi air Giulietta
Discussion
Hi there...newbie on this site. Simple question. Having owned a Giulietta Sportiva 170bhp for 2 years and loving it...is it worth upgrading it to a 240bhp QV/Cloverleaf/ Veloce version? On the horizon is the Giulia 280 veloce too, that may be out of my league financially for a while. Any comment/advice welcome.
Sorry, not much help but similar thoughts. Have an 07 Alfa GT as my daily driver for 5 years and 130k miles. It has been fantastically reliably and a bit different on the road.
No looking to renew. Just bought a MiTo Veloce for my daughter, which is a great little thing so was thinking of its bigger brother. The reviews suggest that they are a bit soft for a very hot hatch, which would be ideal for a daily. Looking at prices, they seem to go £10k to high teens.
But then starting at £20k is a Giulia Veloce, which is not much larger, better looking, RWD and newer design. These get cracking reviews.
But the conundrum for me is the cash only purchase for a Guiletta or borrowing for the newer. With not may around of either, it is not easy to look at them. My heart say Giulia but head says save them money and wait for them to fall further.
Although you could throw £3k at the GT suspension and underneath body and get pretty much a restored GT as the rest of the car is so tidy. 1st world problem and too much time on my hands looking at Autotrader!

I have a Giulietta QV (1750tbi)
It’s a cracking car and a completely different drive to the other Giulietta’s. Mine lives in D, any other setting is just dull. Suggest you give one a drive before you decide. I can’t think of anything I’d currently replace it with other than a Stelvio Ti/QV
I did consider the Giulia, only problem is the base version (not Veloce), has less power and I prefer hatches/estates.. I will wait for a blue 2nd hand Stelvio Ti.

Like craig_m67 I have a 65 plate Giulietta QV with 60,000 miles on it. Its my wifes car and we have had it since 30,000 miles. My wife loves it and ive had Alfas all my life and its a briliiant car. I would echo everything craig_m67 says, you really need to drive one. Your welcome to have a go in mine however im obviously not sure where you are. Buy one!

Thanks for replies. Those who have owned/driven a 1.4 170 Giulietta AND a 240bhp version.....does the 240bhp handle as sweetly as the 170bhp? Quite a lot of extra weight in the 1750 lump OVER the driven wheels......be interested in opinions and views. TIA......
I have driven both but with quite a gap, so not sure whether I can give a good comparison. I'd say the 240hp version handles nicely, but be aware the ride is a bit harder than the other versions.Gassing Station | Alfa Romeo, Fiat & Lancia | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
